WELCOME TO PRAGUE
Fri. Jun 7, 2024
  • Arrive at Prague International Airport.
  • Check into the hotel.
  • Start at 6:00 p.m. at the Hotel lobby. Meet your tour educator who will accompany you on this journey of education and inspiration.
  • Gather together for a Shabbat service at the hotel, followed by a festive Shabbat dinner.

DAY 3
THE GLORY OF PRAGUE

  • Visit the Prague Castle, enjoy an overview of the City of 100 Spires, and walk along the Golden Lane.
  • Stop by the famous John Lennon wall, the monument of free speech, with its variety of graffiti, color, and art.
  • Walk through the Lesser Town and over the Charles Bridge.
  • Discover the secrets of Prague’s Old Town on a fun scavenger hunt.
  • Participate in a Havdalah ceremony saying farewell to Shabbat.

DAY 4
JEWISH PRAGUE

  • Discover the sometimes glorious, sometimes tragic, past of Prague’s Jews with a walking tour to the Jewish Ghetto. Our visit will include:
    • The Maisel Synagogue.
    • The Pinkas Synagogue.
    • The Old Jewish Cemetery.
    • The Spanish Synagogue.
    • The Altneushul.
  • Prague provides more than its fair share of beautiful spots, culture, and history to enjoy during your free time. Here are just a few recommendations:
    • Given the scenery, trails, and the glorious Vtlava River, Prague is an awesome place for a bike ride. There are numerous bike tours to enjoy and pink bikes dotted around the city for cheap rental.
    • Take the funicular or walk up Petřín Hill, a huge park with great views of the city. While you’re up there, relax in the Rose Garden, enjoy some family fun in the Mirror Maze, or climb the 299 steps to the top of lookout tower.
    • Kampa and Letna Parks are also vast parks perfect for walks, lunch, and relaxation.
    • Popular places for Czech and European art include the massive National Gallery and its Veltzni Palac wing, the Museum Kampa, the Galerie Rudolfinim, and the Dox Center for Contemporary Art.
    • The Prague Zoo is one of the world’s best.
    • The Franz Kafka Museum examines the relationship between the writer and his home city. It includes first editions of his works, photographs, original letters, and audiovisual exhibits.
    • The Czechs brew better beer than virtually anywhere on the globe. Join the locals for a drop in the many bars, beer gardens, and restaurants around the city or see how it’s done at the Strahov Monastic Brewery. Cheers!
    • Explore what life was like in Communist Czechoslovakia in the Museum of Communism - from the media and education to Stalinist brutality and the Velvet Revolution.
    • Prague is a city of culture and music. Check out the options at the National Theatre, the State Opera House, or the Rudolfinum (home of the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra) and keep an eye and ear out for the many concerts held in local churches.

150 YEARS OF COMMUNITY

  • Drive to the small town of Kolin, once home to one of the largest and most important Jewish communities in Bohemia.
  • Celebrate B'nai Mitzvah as a community at the Baroque Synagogue of Kolin, the origin of our Czech Torah.
  • Enjoy a celebratory lunch.
  • Return to Prague with remainder of the afternoon at leisure.

DAY 6
ON THE WAY TO VIENNA
Tue. Jun 11, 2024
  • Check out of the hotel and drive to the South of Czech Republic.
  • Our next stop is Cesky Krumlov, one of Europe’s most picturesque towns and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Here you can choose to:
    • Take a tour of the town, which features superb Renaissance, Gothic, and Baroque architecture, cobbled streets, and an almost fairy-tale beauty. Looming above it all is the State Castle, a striking and massive fortress established in the 14th century and gloriously rebuilt by the ruler of this part of Bohemia in the 16th century.

    • Enjoy the atmosphere of the river and extraordinary views of the city on a short rafting trip on the Vltava River.
  • Continue to Vienna.
  • Check into the hotel and evening at leisure.

DAY 7
THE AUSTRIAN EMPIRE
Wed. Jun 12, 2024
  • Explore the Judenplatz, a center of Jewish life and the Viennese Jewish community in the Middle Ages.
  • Spend a day exploring the heart of the Habsburg Empire, the Schönbrunn Palace, and Gardens. Options will include:
    • A tour of the Palace's highlights.
    • Spend time at Tiergarten Schönbrunn, the oldest zoo in the world. It hosts animals from the arctic to the Amazon and is one of the rare places where you can see a giant panda.
    • The Imperial Children’s Museum, where your own little princes and princesses can dress up like Habsburg royalty. This fun, hands-on museum recreates the daily lives of the youngest members of the imperial family and includes their games, toys, and books.
  • Return to the hotel.

DAY 8
FROM VIENNA TO BUDAPEST

  • Morning at leisure to explore Vienna's rich museum scene.
  • Check out of the hotel and drive to Budapest.
  • Arrive in Budapest and meet your local guide.
  • Take a bus tour along stylish Andrassy Avenue with its palaces and mansions. Home in the 19th century to aristocrats and bankers, it is now also a chic street of designer stores, upscale boutiques, and the glorious State Opera House. We’ll jump off the bus at Heroes’ Square to see the iconic statues commemorating one thousand years of Magyar (Hungarian) tribes, leaders, and kings.
  • Check into the hotel.
  • Budapest has in recent years developed into a European center for nightlife. Check out the scene on a free evening, including the many options for dinner.

DAY 9
JEWISH LIFE IN BUDAPEST
Fri. Jun 14, 2024
  • Explore the story of Jewish Budapest over the past 160 years:
    • The Dohany Street Synagogue.
    • The Jewish Museum.
    • The Raoul Wallenberg Memorial Park.
  • Take a ride up hill on the Buda Castle Funicular.
  • We’ll look down on the beauty of the city and see how the Danube river separates the hilly Buda area from the flat lands of Pest. Castle Hill, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is named after Buda Castle, which was built in the 13th century and now hosts the Hungarian National Gallery and other major cultural institutions. We’ll wander Castle Hill’s cobblestoned streets and appreciate the remarkable rebuilding of this area, which was reduced to rubble after World War Two.
  • Enjoy the panoramic views of Budapest from the top of the Fisherman’s Bastion.
  • Return to the hotel to freshen up before Shabbat.
  • Take part in Shabbat services at a local synagogue.
  • Shabbat dinner at a restaurant.

DAY 10
THE HEART OF HUNGARY

  • Children under 12:
    • Visit the Tropicanarium, where we'll see multicolored fish but also sharks, crocodiles, and monkeys!
    • Delicious pizza lunch.
    • Chocolate workshop: melting bonbons, making pralines and lollipops are all on the agenda. Roll up your sleeves and have fun making your own sweets!
  • Adults and teens:
    • Check out Budapest’s largest food market, the Nagycsarnok (Great Market Hall). Local foods, spices, and wines are downstairs while upstairs you’ll find traditional Hungarian costumes and crafts.
    • Enjoy the tastes and smells of Central Europe with a Hungarian cooking class.
  • Enjoy an afternoon at leisure with the opportunity to relax at one of Budapest's famous spas, the Széchenyi Bathhouse and the Gellert Bathhouse. For more family fun, head to the Palatinus Bath.
  • Farewell dinner on a private cruise on the Danube, with time to reflect on your journey while enjoying views of the city at night.

What to expect

  • 9 nights' accommodations. Late check out on the day of departure is included.
  • 8 days of touring with a tour educator (guide) in a luxury, air-conditioned bus.
  • Daily breakfast, 2 lunches & 3 dinners.

  • Gratuities are excluded. For groups of 20 and more participants traveling to Central Europe: We recommend the following guidelines for tipping (amounts are in US dollars): Jewish Tour Educator: $12 | Local Guide: $10 | Driver: $5. Amounts are per day per person.
  • Arrival & departure airport transfers.
  • COVID related expenses, including tests.
  • Evening transportation when dinner is not included.
  • Amendments to the program: In the event that any sites, programs or meals etc. are added to the program, an additional fee may be required.
  • Personal extras: Items of personal nature such as laundry, wines, mineral water, beverages, coffee, tea, food other than the table d’hotel menu, passport and visa fees, insurance, and foreign port taxes, unless otherwise specified.
  • US and foreign airport taxes, Q fuel surcharge and border taxes when applicable.
  • Value Added Tax is currently not applicable to tourists visiting Israel. Should the law change, you will be notified accordingly, and VAT will be added to your final invoice.

  • Validity | All prices quoted are based on exchange rates as of the proposal date and are subject to change without notice. Rates are per person and are based on shared twin room occupancy.
  • How to Make a Reservation | The quickest way to make a reservation is to register online or contact us by email. We accept VISA, MasterCard, and American Express credit cards. A non-refundable deposit is required in order to complete the registration process.
  • For any assistance with this registration process or other trip-related queries, please email Customer Care: customercare@j2adventures.com.
  • Payments | The balance of your payment is due 120 days before your trip begins, or as specified in your invoice. You will receive an email reminder 2 weeks before this date. Various payment options are available as follows:
  • Credit card | We accept Visa, Mastercard and American Express. Please check with your credit card provider regarding international processing fees. We are unable to process payments of over $1,000 over the phone. Please submit payment online via a credit card or by wiring funds via your bank.
  • Domestic bank wire transfer | Payment should be wired in the same currency that is listed on your invoice. Please add the name of your group or invoice number as a reference and forward a copy of the transfer receipt by email. The bank transfer should clearly state the beneficiary’s name on the wire transfer.
  • J² Adventures reserves the right to automatically cancel your reservation on that date and it may be subject to reconfirmation should the final payment not be received.
  • Cancelation Policy | All cancelations need to be made in writing. The cancelation fee depends on the date when we receive written notification of your request to cancel your booking. Please note that the deposit is non-refundable.
  • Cancelation fees | Cancelations made before January 29th 2024 incur the loss of the deposit. Cancelations made from January 30th 2024 to 46 days prior to departure incur the loss of 50% of the full trip cost. Cancelations made 45 days or less prior to the departure incur the loss of 100% of the full trip cost.
  • Cancelation fees may also include: Hotel or supplier cancelation fees. J² Adventures reserves the right to adjust its terms of payment, including cancelation policies and initial deposits.
