But China, with its wildly different landscapes, breathtaking scenery, unique cuisine, not to mention hundreds of dialects, is more like several different countries rolled into one. As for its history, China is one of the oldest civilizations in the world. Everything you encounter in China will be a profound learning experience. And yes, you will be wowed by China’s delicacies which are as exciting and diverse as the land itself.

The Chinese Jewish community has deep historical roots that go back centuries. It represents a unique mix of Sephardic Jews, mostly Egyptian and Iraqi Jewish merchants, and Ashkenazi Jews from Europe fleeing from persecution and pogroms. Add to the mix a large number of Jews from around the world who have been coming to Beijing to take part in the economic development of China. There are about 2,500 Jews in China today, spread throughout the major cities – Kaifeng, Beijing, and Shanghai.
