DAY 1
JOURNEY OF A LIFETIME

  • Our adventure begins! Depart from the US and get ready to embark on an extraordinary journey through Morocco.

DAY 2
DISCOVERING CASABLANCA & A TASTE OF MOROCCO
Mon. Oct 26, 2026
  • Arrive at Casablanca International Airport.
  • Transfer to the hotel. (Transfers provided for all arrival times.)
  • 11:00 a.m. – Optional Morning Tour. For those who wish to explore before the trip officially begins, join your J² Expert Educator and local Moroccan guide for an optional introduction to Casablanca. Sites may include:
    • A local church, reflecting Morocco’s commitment to religious coexistence
    • The main square, where past and present merge seamlessly
    • The site of the historic Casablanca Conference (1943)
    • Rick’s Café, evoking the magic of the classic film Casablanca
    • A stroll along the Corniche, Casablanca’s scenic seaside boardwalk
  • Lunch will be on your own at one of the many charming cafés overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.
  • 3:00 p.m. – Hotel Check-In. Settle into your room and take some time to refresh before the group program officially begins.
  • 5:00 p.m. – Official Start of Program. Gather in the hotel to officially begin the program. Meet your J² Expert Educator and local Moroccan tour guide, who will accompany us throughout this unforgettable journey.
  • Visit the historic Beth-El Synagogue, Casablanca’s active Jewish center, where we will reflect on the resilience and continuity of Jewish life in Morocco.
  • Festive welcome dinner at a local restaurant featuring the rich and aromatic flavors of Moroccan cuisine, including traditional tagines and delicate pastries.

DAY 3
EXPLORING THE JEWISH LEGACY OF MOROCCO

  • Check out of the hotel and begin our day with a visit to one of Morocco’s architectural marvels: The Hassan II Mosque, an awe-inspiring structure built over the Atlantic Ocean. With its intricate tilework and towering minaret, it’s one of the largest and most breathtaking mosques in the world.
  • Visit the Neve Shalom Jewish Day School and engage in a conversation with Rabbi Jacky Sebbag to learn about the school’s mission, educational approach, and its role in sustaining the local Jewish community.
  • Hospitality lunch with a member of the local Jewish community – an intimate opportunity to hear her personal story and gain firsthand insight into Jewish life in Morocco today.
  • Step into history at the Museum of the Jews of Morocco, the only Jewish museum in the Arab world. Here, we’ll explore Morocco’s deep Jewish roots through artifacts, stories, and exhibits.
  • Continue to Fes, a city of immense cultural and historical significance, once Morocco’s capital and a major center of Jewish scholarship.
  • Check into the hotel and enjoy dinner.

DAY 4
FROM IMPERIAL MEKNES TO HISTORIC FES
Wed. Oct 28, 2026
  • Begin the day with breathtaking panoramic views of Fes and its ancient Medina from the historic Borj Sud fortress.
  • Step back in time as we explore the city’s rich Jewish heritage:
    • The Ibn Danan Synagogue, one of the oldest and most significant synagogues in North Africa, recently restored to its former glory.
    • The El Fassiyin Synagogue, which was once repurposed as a boxing ring and a carpet factory but has now been returned to its original purpose.
    • The Fes Jewish Cemetery, where we will hear the remarkable stories of the city’s revered rabbis and scholars.
  • Wander through the maze-like Medina of Fes, a UNESCO World Heritage site and the world’s largest pedestrian-only urban area.
  • Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before continuing our explorations:
    • The University of Al-Karaouine, the world’s oldest operating university, where Jewish and Muslim scholars once studied side by side.
    • The Chouara Tannery, where the ancient art of leather dyeing is still practiced today.
  • Stop by a local artisan’s workshop and witness traditional craftsmanship that has been passed down for generations.
  • Return to the hotel.

DAY 5
RABAT: CITY OF LEGENDS AND HIDDEN STORIES

  • Check out of the hotel and set out for Rabat, Morocco’s elegant capital city.
  • Visit the mausoleum of Mohammad V, the revered king who protected Morocco’s Jews during World War II, refusing to allow them to be deported to Nazi concentration camps.
  • Pay respects at the mausoleum of Hassan II, the former king known for modernizing Morocco.
  • Stroll through Rabat’s Medina, where we’ll explore bustling markets, elegant jewelry shops, and grand diplomatic buildings.
  • Climb up to the Kasbah des Udayas, a fortress offering stunning views of the Atlantic Ocean.
  • Check into the hotel and enjoy a meaningful dialogue with young leaders from Association Mimouna, a Muslim organization dedicated to preserving Jewish heritage in Morocco and and promoting Jewish-Muslim friendship.
  • Evening at leisure to explore the capital.

DAY 6
THE MAGIC OF MARRAKECH

  • Check out and travel to Marrakech, the city of vibrant colors, exotic souks, and legendary history.
  • Take a panoramic tour of this mesmerizing city, where tradition and modernity blend seamlessly.
  • Discover the Majorelle Garden, an oasis of exotic plants and vibrant cobalt-blue buildings once owned by fashion designer Yves Saint Laurent.
  • Explore the Berber Museum, which showcases the rich cultural heritage of Morocco’s indigenous Berber people.
  • Check into the hotel and prepare for a special Shabbat experience.
  • Kabbalat Shabbat services at the hotel led by Rabbi Laura Abrasley, followed by home hospitality dinner.

SHABBAT IN THE RED CITY OF MARRAKECH

  • Begin with a guided tour of the Medina of Marrakech, the vibrant heart of the city, filled with markets, historical sites, and narrow streets.
  • Visit the Dar El Bacha Palace, an architectural marvel showcasing the splendor of Morocco’s royal history.
  • Explore the Madrasa Ben Youssef, one of Morocco’s most beautiful historical sites, a former theological school known for its intricate tilework and stunning design.
  • Spend time in Djemaa El Fna Square, experiencing the lively atmosphere of snake charmers, musicians, street vendors, and entertainers that make Marrakech so unique.
  • Enjoy free time to explore Marrakech at your leisure, soaking in the sights, sounds, and culture of this magical city.
  • Come together for a communal havdalah ceremony, marking the end of Shabbat in a beautiful and reflective moment.

DAY 8
THE JEWISH QUARTER AND A MOROCCAN COOKING EXPERIENCE

  • Dialogue on the role of the Imam in Moroccan society, facilitated by a professor of English and a local Imam. This session will provide insight into the unique role of the Imam in Moroccan culture and the differences in Islamic practices in Morocco compared to other regions.
  • Wander through the Mellah, the historic Jewish quarter of Marrakech, filled with old synagogues and Jewish heritage sites.
  • Visit the Slat el Azama Synagogue, a still-active place of worship that holds deep historical significance for the local Jewish community.
  • Explore the Jewish Cemetery, where many of Morocco’s most prominent Jewish figures are laid to rest.
  • Participate in an interactive Moroccan cooking class, where you will learn to prepare a traditional tagine.
  • Enjoy the fruits of your labor during lunch, savoring the flavors of your freshly cooked Moroccan meal.
  • Afterward, enjoy free time to wander the city’s markets, or relax at a traditional hammam, a quintessential Moroccan experience.

DAY 9
JOURNEY INTO THE ATLAS MOUNTAINS AND BERBER HOSPITALITY
Mon. Nov 2, 2026
  • Begin the day with a scenic drive through the lush Sidi Abdellah Ghiat and Oued Maleh valleys, heading toward the majestic Atlas Mountains.
  • Stop at the grave of Rabbi Shlomo BelHench, a revered Jewish saint known as the “Son of the Snake,” and hear the legends surrounding his life and legacy.
  • Continue to a traditional Berber village nestled in the mountains, where you will be welcomed by the village chief and local musicians, offering you a warm taste of Berber hospitality.
  • Enjoy a home-cooked lunch in the village, with fresh, locally sourced ingredients, while learning about Berber culture and traditions from the chief.
  • Visit a local school to interact with students and see the educational practices of the region.
  • Participate in a bread-making workshop, gaining hands-on experience with traditional Berber baking techniques.
  • Return to Marrakech for a special festive dinner, complete with live music to enhance the ambiance.

DAY 10
FAREWELL, MOROCCO: UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN

  • Validity | All prices quoted are based on exchange rates as of the proposal date and are subject to change without notice. Rates are per person and are based on shared twin room occupancy.
  • How to Make a Reservation | The quickest way to make a reservation is to register online or contact us by email. We accept VISA, MasterCard, and American Express credit cards. A $1,000 per person non-refundable deposit is required in order to complete the registration process.

  • Payments | The balance of your payment is due 90 days before your trip begins, or as specified in your invoice. You will receive an email reminder 2 weeks before this date. Various payment options are available as follows:
  • Credit card | We accept Visa, Mastercard and American Express. Please check with your credit card provider regarding international processing fees. We are unable to process payments of over $1,000 over the phone. Please submit payment online via a credit card or by wiring funds via your bank.
  • Domestic bank wire transfer | Payment should be wired in the same currency that is listed on your invoice. Please add the name of your group or invoice number as a reference and forward a copy of the transfer receipt by email. The bank transfer should clearly state the beneficiary’s name on the wire transfer.
  • J² Adventures reserves the right to automatically cancel your reservation on that date and it may be subject to reconfirmation should the final payment not be received.
  • Cancelation Policy | All cancelations need to be made in writing. The cancelation fee depends on the date when we receive written notification of your request to cancel your booking. Please note that the deposit is non-refundable.
  • Cancelation fees | Cancelations made 90 or more days prior to departure incur the loss of the deposit. Cancelations made 89 to 46 days prior to departure incur the loss of 50% of the full trip cost. Cancelations made 45 days or less prior to the departure incur the loss of 100% of the full trip cost.
  • Cancelation fees may also include: Hotel or supplier cancelation fees. J² Adventures reserves the right to adjust its terms of payment, including cancelation policies and initial deposits.
  • This journey includes walking tours, cultural site visits, and hotel stays that may involve uneven terrain, stairs, and longer distances on foot. While we do our best to accommodate a range of mobility levels, a moderate level of physical fitness is recommended to fully enjoy the experience.
