  • Check into the hotel.
  • Welcome dinner at the hotel with an orientation dialogue with your J² Expert Educator, including an overview of your journey.

DAY 3
BEAUTY OF MADRID
Fri. Jun 20, 2025
  • Start your day at the Plaza de España, which features a monument to Spanish novelist, poet, and playwright Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra, the author of the immortal Don Quixote. Orientation dialogue with your Expert Educator.
  • Visit the Beth Yaacov Synagogue and the Museum of the Jewish Community of Madrid. This was the first synagogue built in Madrid since the Spanish Inquisition. Take a journey through the contemporary history of the presence of Jewish life in Madrid, from its beginnings to the present day, through photographs, images and graphic elements, and ritual objects.
  • Tour the Sephardic-Israeli Center, which aims to promote the legacy of Sephardic culture as a living and integral part of Spanish culture, fostering a greater understanding of the Jewish culture in the heart of Spanish society and driving the development of ties of friendship and cooperation between Spanish and Israeli society.
  • Discover the beauty of Madrid on a walking tour of the city, including stops at:
    • The San Miguel Market, famous for its sumptuous tapas dishes, with lunch on your own.
    • Plaza Mayor, site of multiple "acts of faith"- the infamous "auto-da-fé" of the Spanish Inquisition.
    • Puerta Del Sol, the center of the city.
  • Return to the hotel to freshen up before Shabbat.
  • Shabbat service at the synagogue of the Communidad Judia Reformista. After services we will join the locals at their communal Shabbat dinner and mingle.

DAY 4
TOLEDO AND TWO THOUSAND YEARS OF CONQUEST AND CULTURE
Sat. Jun 21, 2025
  • Depart for Toledo, which remains much as it was in the 16th century, and begin with a panoramic tour of the city.
  • Tour through the Jewish Quarter, including the Samuel Halevi Abulafia Synagogue, which was turned into a church known as Nuestra Señora del Tránisito, the Sephardic Museum, and the Santa Maria La Blanca Church (formerly the Grand Synagogue).
  • Visit the Church of Santo Tomé which was constructed on the site of an 11th-century mosque.
  • Return to Madrid.
  • Enjoy a guided tour of the Prado, one of the world's most renowned art museums and the best collection of classical art in Madrid.
  • At nightfall, we will mark the end of Shabbat with a communal havdalah ceremony.
  • Evening at leisure in Madrid.

CORDOBA - MY HEART IS IN THE EAST AND WE ARE HERE

  • Check out of the hotel.
  • Travel by AVE (high-speed) train to Córdoba, the capital of the Moorish Kingdom of al-Andalus.
  • Visit Córdoba’s famous Cathedral-Mosque with its 1,000 colored columns.
  • Continue to the Jewish Quarter, including Plaza Tiberias and the Yehuda Halevi Square. Proceed to the Statue of Maimonides and the Maimonides Synagogue.
  • Special program and ladino concert at Casa de Sefarad, dedicated to the history of the Sephardic Jews in Córdoba and Spain prior to the Inquisition and the expulsion of 1492. Meet with the people responsible for the creation of this private historical venture in the Jewish Quarter.
  • Check into the hotel.

DAY 6
WONDERS OF ANDALUCIA
Mon. Jun 23, 2025
  • Check out of the hotel and depart Cordoba.
  • Stop for a visit to the “Jewish Necropolis” of Lucena, regarded as the largest in the Iberian Peninsula. Come together as an opportunity for reflection.
  • Drive through the beautiful nature and countryside of Andalusia. Our day will include:
    • Discover the traditional methods of olive oil production and savor the unique flavors of premium Andalusian olive oils.
    • Lunch, en route.
    • Wine tasting in the foothills of the majestic Sierra Nevada mountains. Savor exquisite local wines while enjoying breathtaking views of the stunning landscape.
  • Continue your drive to Granada, the last stronghold of the Moors before it fell to Isabella and Ferdinand in 1492.
  • Check into the hotel.
  • Evening at leisure.

GRANADA OF THE JEWS THROUGH 1492

  • The Kaleidoscope That is Spain: Tour the Alhambra Palace and Generalife Gardens. The palace exhibits Spain’s most significant and well-known Islamic architecture, together with 16th-century and later Christian building and garden interventions. The Alhambra is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
  • Jewish History in the Shadows: Guided visit to the Realejo, the former Jewish Quarter and the site of the original town bearing the name Garnata al-Yahud. Explore the meandering streets and traditional neighborhood, which have no tangible remains of the Jewish community, but a wealth of stories.
  • Visit the Albaicin, an old Moorish neighborhood, with cozy narrow streets and charming white houses full of local color (now a UNESCO World Heritage site).
  • Snapping and Stepping: Participate in an interactive flamenco workshop to learn the basics of this typical Andalusian art form.

COSTA DEL SOL

  • Check out of the hotel.
  • Depart Granada and drive to the coast.
  • Embark on a sailing adventure, where you’ll glide through the sparkling waters of the Mediterranean Sea. As you sail, keep an eye out for playful dolphins swimming alongside the boat, and enjoy the serene beauty of the coastline.
  • Drive to Malaga and check into the hotel.
  • Remainder of the day at leisure to enjoy Malaga's seafront & beaches, or relax at the hotel's pool.
  • What We Have Seen & What We've Learned: Come together and debrief our journey as a group.
  • Festive farewell dinner.

  • Validity | All prices quoted are based on exchange rates as of the proposal date and are subject to change without notice. Rates are per person and are based on shared twin room occupancy.
  • How to Make a Reservation | The quickest way to make a reservation is to register online or contact us by email. We accept VISA, MasterCard, and American Express credit cards. A non-refundable deposit of $1,000 is required in order to complete the registration process.

  • Payments | The balance of your payment is due 120 days before your trip begins, or as specified in your invoice. You will receive an email reminder 2 weeks before this date. Various payment options are available as follows:
    • Credit card | We accept Visa, Mastercard and American Express. Please check with your credit card provider regarding international processing fees. We are unable to process payments of over $1,000 over the phone. Please submit payment online via a credit card or by wiring funds via your bank.
    • Domestic bank wire transfer | Payment should be wired in the same currency that is listed on your invoice. Please add the name of your group or invoice number as a reference and forward a copy of the transfer receipt by email. The bank transfer should clearly state the beneficiary’s name on the wire transfer.
  • J² Adventures reserves the right to automatically cancel your reservation on that date and it may be subject to reconfirmation should the final payment not be received.
  • Cancelation Policy | All cancelations need to be made in writing. The cancelation fee depends on the date when we receive written notification of your request to cancel your booking. Please note that the deposit is non-refundable.
  • Cancelation fees | Cancelations made 120 or more days prior to departure incur the loss of the deposit. Cancelations made 119 to 46 days prior to departure incur the loss of 50% of the full trip cost. Cancelations made 45 days or less prior to the departure incur the loss of 100% of the full trip cost.
  • Cancelation fees may also include: Hotel or supplier cancelation fees. J² Adventures reserves the right to adjust its terms of payment, including cancelation policies and initial deposits.
