DISCOVERING TEL AVIV & JAFFA: PAST, PRESENT, AND POSSIBILITIES
Tue. Feb 17, 2026
  • Begin the day at the Jaffa lookout, where you’ll gain an introduction to Tel Aviv’s rich history and its transformation into a global metropolis.
  • A visit to The Orchard of Abraham’s Children offers a deeply moving experience of interfaith reconciliation. Founders Ihab and Ora Balha - a Muslim and Jewish couple - share their remarkable story of coexistence and the transformative power of empathy and dialogue.
  • Explore the dynamic Florentine neighborhood, a hub of Tel Aviv’s street art and cultural expression. Witness firsthand how graffiti and murals reflect social issues, identity, and recent events in Israel.
  • Visit Nahalat Binyamin, Tel Aviv’s arts and crafts market, followed by the vibrant Carmel Market.
  • Experience Jewish life at the ANU Museum of the Jewish People, showcasing the diverse stories and cultures of Jewish communities throughout history.

  • Explore Ancient Caesarea: Step back in time at Caesarea National Park, where history and the Mediterranean meet. Wander through the ruins of Herod the Great’s grand Roman port city, featuring a stunning amphitheater, ancient aqueducts, and a well-preserved hippodrome. Discover the city's rich past, from its role as a major trade hub to its significance in Jewish, Christian, and Islamic history, all while enjoying breathtaking coastal views.
  • Experience authentic Druze hospitality with a home-cooked Kosher Druze lunch at El Carmel. Sit down with a Druze family, learn about their traditions and culture, and savor delicious home-prepared dishes in an intimate setting.
  • Stop at Beit She’arim, the necropolis of the Sanhedrin and burial place of Rabbi Judah HaNasi. Through its catacombs and inscriptions, the site reveals the story of early rabbinic Judaism and the shaping of Jewish law and thought.
  • As the day winds down, ascend to the Galilee to check into the hotel. Dinner is served in the serene surroundings of the northern hills.

  • Ascend into the Golan Heights for wine tasting at a boutique winery. Local varietals, high-altitude air, and sweeping views create a meaningful pause to appreciate the land’s bounty and the innovation of Israeli viticulture.
  • Ascend Mount Bental for a panoramic view of the Israeli-Syrian border, gaining a deeper understanding of Israel’s geopolitical and security concerns.
  • Security Briefing on the Northern Border: A strategic field briefing with a senior researcher from the Alma Research and Education Center, offering insight into the complex threats from Hezbollah and Syria, and the challenges of maintaining security and stability in Israel’s north.

  • Check out of the hotel and drive to Jerusalem.
  • Stop at the Haas Promenade for a sweeping view of the Holy City. A communal Shehechiyanu blessing offers a moment of gratitude and arrival.
  • Explore Mahane Yehuda, Jerusalem’s open-air market. Amid the pre-Shabbat bustle, aromas of baked goods, spices, and seasonal produce mingle with music and chatter. The market offers a living tableau of Jerusalem’s cultural and culinary mosaic.
  • After checking into the hotel and time to rest, join communities across the city for Kabbalat Shabbat. Whether at the Kotel or a local synagogue, the sacred melodies welcome in the spirit of rest and renewal.
  • Back at the hotel, Shabbat dinner offers traditional fare, song, and the warmth of shared celebration.

SHABBAT IN THE HEART OF JERUSALEM (WALKING TOUR)

  • Walking tour of the Old City of Jerusalem, starting with the Tower of David, where you’ll explore the city's strategic and cultural significance through the ages.
  • Old City Rooftop Viewpoint: Ascend to one of the Old City’s rooftops for sweeping views over the Jewish, Muslim, Christian, and Armenian Quarters. The panorama underscores Jerusalem's rich spiritual and architectural tapestry.
  • As night falls, a communal Havdalah ceremony overlooking the city’s golden stones marks the close of Shabbat and the beginning of a new week. The ritual blends melody, light, and scent in a powerful farewell to sacred time.

LAYERS OF A CITY

  • Visit Yad Vashem, Israel’s Holocaust Memorial and Museum. Walk through the exhibits, hear survivor testimonies, and reflect on the legacy of the six million Jewish victims of the Holocaust.
  • Explore the Jewish Quarter of the Old City, beginning with a walk through the Cardo, the ancient Roman marketplace, and continuing through Hurva Square, where centuries of destruction and rebuilding tell the story of Jerusalem’s resilience. At the Southern Wall Archaeological Park, stones and steps from the Second Temple period bring the ancient pilgrimage experience vividly to life.
  • Gather at the Western Wall, Judaism’s holiest accessible site, for personal reflection and prayer. The experience deepens in the Western Wall Tunnels, which reveal subterranean layers of Jerusalem’s sacred and political history - echoes of Herod’s architecture, Jewish devotion, and Roman presence that shaped the ancient city.

LIVING ON THE EDGE: IN THE SHADOW OF GAZA

  • Hands-on Food Rescue with Leket Israel: Volunteer with Leket Israel, the country’s leading food rescue organization, by harvesting surplus produce from farms or sorting and packing fresh food for distribution to families in need. Make a direct impact by helping to fight food insecurity while engaging in a meaningful, hands-on experience.
  • Travel to Sderot, a city on Israel’s southern border, to engage with local residents. Hear firsthand accounts of their experiences on October 7 and gain a deeper understanding of the challenges they face. Learn about community efforts to rebuild and foster resilience in the wake of conflict.
  • Visit the site of the Nova Festival, once a symbol of joy and unity, now a place of remembrance and resilience. Guided by members of Tribe of Nova, we will hear firsthand accounts from survivors and honor the lives lost in the October 7 attack. Through personal testimonies and reflections, we will stand in solidarity with the community, ensuring their voices and legacy endure.
  • Reflect at the "Burnt Vehicles Compound," where 1,560 vehicles evacuated from the Gaza Envelope stand as silent witnesses to October 7.
  • Return to Jerusalem.

ROOTS AND WINGS

  • Mount Herzl is Israel's central military cemetery and hosts the graves of the leaders of the nation. Over the last several months, the recently fallen have joined this sacred place. Visit Mount Herzl and contend with the human price paid by Israeli families and the country in the Israel-Hamas War.
  • Visit to the National Memorial Hall for Israel's Fallen Soldiers: Pay tribute to Israel’s fallen soldiers at this solemn and architecturally striking memorial on Mount Herzl. The hall’s unique design features an eternal flame and a continuously illuminated wall inscribed with the names of every soldier who has died in service to Israel. Gain a deeper understanding of Israel’s history, sacrifice, and resilience through this powerful and moving experience. Join in daily Kaddish prayers recited at the site, bearing witness to Israel’s collective grief and affirming life amid loss.
  • Discover the Israel National Library, a cultural and intellectual hub preserving centuries of Jewish creativity. Explore its vast collections and learn about the national initiative documenting the events of October 7, 2023.
  • Free time for final explorations, personal reflection, or shopping in the markets and alleys of Jerusalem.
  • Private farewell dinner, followed by a group transfer to Ben Gurion Airport for flights departing between 11:00 p.m. and 1:00 a.m.

  • Validity | All prices quoted are based on exchange rates as of the proposal date and are subject to change without notice. Rates are per person and are based on shared twin room occupancy.
  • How to Make a Reservation | The quickest way to make a reservation is to register online or contact us by email. We accept VISA, MasterCard, and American Express credit cards. A non-refundable deposit of $500 is required in order to complete the registration process.

  • Payments | The balance of your payment is due 90 days before your trip begins, or as specified in your invoice. You will receive an email reminder 2 weeks before this date. Various payment options are available as follows:
    • Credit card | We accept Visa, Mastercard and American Express. Please check with your credit card provider regarding international processing fees. We are unable to process payments of over $1,000 over the phone. Please submit payment online via a credit card or by wiring funds via your bank.
    • Domestic bank wire transfer | Payment should be wired in the same currency that is listed on your invoice. Please add the name of your group or invoice number as a reference and forward a copy of the transfer receipt by email. The bank transfer should clearly state the beneficiary’s name on the wire transfer.
  • J² Adventures reserves the right to automatically cancel your reservation on that date and it may be subject to reconfirmation should the final payment not be received.
  • Cancelation Policy | All cancelations need to be made in writing. The cancelation fee depends on the date when we receive written notification of your request to cancel your booking. Please note that the deposit is non-refundable.
  • Cancelation fees | Cancelations made 90 or more days prior to departure incur the loss of the deposit. Cancelations made 89 to 46 days prior to departure incur the loss of 50% of the full trip cost. Cancelations made 45 days or less prior to the departure incur the loss of 100% of the full trip cost.
  • Cancelation fees may also include: Hotel or supplier cancelation fees. J² Adventures reserves the right to adjust its terms of payment, including cancelation policies and initial deposits.
