YOUR journey

J² crafts journeys of inspiration, education, and Jewish connections to Israel and worldwide. We are guided by a simple but powerful concept: No two trips are the same; each experience should be personal, meaningful, and backed by superb service. Program Itinerary

DAY 1
A THOUSAND YEARS BEGIN: JEWISH WARSAW - PAST & PRESENT
Mon. Oct 26, 2026
  • Arrive at Warsaw Chopin Airport, where individual arrival transfers will greet you and escort you directly to your hotel for a seamless and comfortable arrival.
  • 2:00 p.m. Meet your J² Expert Educator at the hotel for an opening orientation to Warsaw, the journey ahead, and the extraordinary 1,000-year story of Jewish life in Poland.
  • Begin at the Okopowa Street Jewish Cemetery, one of Europe’s most significant Jewish burial grounds. As you walk among its historic tombstones, uncover the lives of rabbis, writers, artists, industrialists, and visionaries who shaped Jewish Warsaw and left an indelible mark on modern Jewish thought, culture, and society.
  • Continue to Nożyk Synagogue, the only pre-Holocaust synagogue still functioning in Warsaw. Meet Chief Rabbi Michael Schudrich, who will offer personal insight into the resilience, challenges, and renewal of Jewish life in the city—then and now.
  • Check in to your hotel.
  • This evening, gather for a welcome dinner with the Israeli Ambassador, offering a contemporary diplomatic perspective alongside reflections on Jewish life, memory, and responsibility in Europe today.
Overnight: Warsaw Meals: Dinner
DAY 2
DESTRUCTION, MEMORY & RENEWAL IN WARSAW
Tue. Oct 27, 2026
  • Begin the day at Hillel Warsaw, meeting Magda Dorosz, Director of Hillel Poland, to learn about Jewish student life, identity, and community-building in contemporary Poland.
  • Trace the geography of loss and resistance on a guided walk through the Warsaw Ghetto. Visit the remaining fragments of the Ghetto Wall, the Nathan Rapoport Warsaw Ghetto Memorial, and follow the Path of Remembrance honoring the fighters of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising. Stand at Mila 18, the epicenter of resistance, and conclude at the Umschlagplatz, where Jews were assembled before deportation to Treblinka.
  • Explore the story of the Ringelblum Archives, the clandestine record of life and death in the ghetto - one of the most extraordinary acts of historical preservation ever undertaken.
  • Enjoy an exclusive private visit to the POLIN Museum of the History of Polish Jews, where immersive galleries trace 1,000 years of Jewish civilization, creativity, and resilience - from medieval beginnings through destruction and renewal.
  • Later, unwind with a Polish cocktail and vodka workshop, sampling regional spirits while learning about Poland’s storied distillation traditions.
  • In the early evening, stroll through Warsaw’s Old Town, meticulously reconstructed after World War II. Wander through lively squares and streets that echo with the layered histories of the city.
  • Dinner this evening is on your own, with recommendations provided.
Overnight: Warsaw Meals: Breakfast
DAY 3
SHTETL, MASS GRAVES & TREBLINKA
Wed. Oct 28, 2026
  • Depart Warsaw for Tykocin, a town that offers a rare window into the Jewish shtetl world.
  • Tour the beautifully restored Baroque Synagogue, renowned for its reconstructed wall paintings, and visit the former beit midrash, now a museum dedicated to the town’s Jewish life.
  • Just outside Tykocin, enter the Łopuchowo Forest, where the town’s 2,000 Jews were marched and murdered in August 1941. In this quiet woodland, marked by mass graves and memorials, pause to honor their lives and reflect on the abrupt annihilation of an entire community.
  • Enjoy a packed lunch en route.
  • Continue to the site of the Treblinka Death Camp, where nearly 900,000 Jews were murdered. Though destroyed by the Nazis, the memorial landscape speaks powerfully through its symbolic design. Walk along the reconstructed railway and among the 17,000 stones commemorating the communities obliterated here.
  • Return to Warsaw for dinner at JCC Warsaw, together with local Jewish leaders and community members. This vibrant, pluralistic space embodies the renewal of Jewish culture and connection in Poland today.
Overnight: Warsaw Meals: Breakfast, Packed Lunch, Dinner
DAY 4
FROM WARSAW TO KRAKÓW: JEWISH LIFE THROUGH THE CENTURIES
Thu. Oct 29, 2026
  • Check out of the hotel and transfer to the train station.
  • Travel by high-speed train to Kraków, passing through Poland’s pastoral countryside.
  • Upon arrival, explore Kazimierz, Kraków’s historic Jewish quarter and once the spiritual and cultural heart of Jewish life for more than five centuries. Highlights include:
    • The Altshul. Built in the 15th century, this is the oldest synagogue still standing in Poland.
    • The Rema Synagogue, named after Rabbi Moses Isserles (the “Rema"), a great Talmudic scholar and codifier of Jewish law. It is one of the few synagogues in Krakow that is still active today.
    • The Rema Cemetery, where many renowned rabbis, including the Rema himself, are buried.
    • Enter the Tempel Synagogue, now a cultural venue at the heart of Jewish revival.
  • Check in to your hotel.
  • Evening at leisure to enjoy Kraków’s acclaimed cafés and restaurants.
Overnight: Krakow Meals: Breakfast
DAY 5
AUSCHWITZ–BIRKENAU: MEMORY, MORALITY & SHABBAT
Fri. Oct 30, 2026
  • Depart for a day of in-depth, expertly guided exploration at the Auschwitz–Birkenau complex.
  • Begin at Auschwitz I, the original camp, where museum exhibits, artifacts, and testimony confront the mechanisms of Nazi terror.
  • Continue to Auschwitz II–Birkenau, the extermination camp, preserved largely as it was left. Through survivor accounts and personal stories, confront the scale and human reality of the Holocaust.
  • In the early afternoon, enter the former villa of Rudolf Höss, Auschwitz’s commandant, on a rare private visit. This encounter starkly exposes the chilling coexistence of domestic life and industrialized murder.
  • Break for lunch at Café Bergson, located in the former home of Oświęcim’s last Jewish resident.
  • Conclude with an exclusive visit to Oświęcim’s only surviving synagogue and the adjacent Jewish Museum, where prewar Jewish life is reclaimed through intimate stories and family histories.
  • Return to Kraków to prepare for Shabbat.
  • As evening falls, gather for Kabbalat Shabbat services at a local Kraków synagogue, joining the community in welcoming Shabbat through prayer, song, and shared tradition.
  • Following services, continue together for a Shabbat dinner at the Kraków Jewish Community Center, with Jonathan Ornstein, JCC Director, and members of the local Jewish community who are actively shaping the present and future of Jewish life in Poland.
