DAY 2
WELCOME TO ISRAEL
Thu. May 4, 2023
  • Arrival at Ben Gurion International Airport. Our representative will be on hand to assist with all formalities and ensure your journey has the smoothest of starts.
  • Transfer to Tel Aviv, check into hotel.
  • Commencement of the program and orientation, followed by welcome dinner.

DAY 3
TEL AVIV-JAFFA: OLD & NEW
Fri. May 5, 2023
  • Breakfast at an Israeli hotel is an experience in itself. Start the day with a bounteous buffet.
  • Meet your tour educator who will accompany you on this journey of education and inspiration and depart the hotel.
  • Walk along the Independence Trail and embark on a remarkable journey that begins with the founding of Tel Aviv in 1909 and ends with the establishment of Israel in 1948.
  • Architecture in Tel Aviv: A view from a Middle Eastern eclectic beginning, through the International Bauhaus style to the skyscrapers of modern Tel Aviv, walk though Rothschild Boulevard, Neve Zedek and the renovated train station for insight into the cultural reflection of concrete change.
  • Visit the Old City of Jaffa and ascend from the ancient port through the renovated alleyways to the Jaffa Overlook for an introduction to Tel Aviv at the place where it all began.
  • Stroll through the Nachalat Binyamin pedestrian mall, with its bi-weekly crafts fair and eateries. Alongside is the colorful Carmel open-air market and across the way Sheinkin Street, with its hip cafés and funky chic shopping.
  • Return to the hotel.
  • Dinner at a local restaurant.

DAY 4
THE STILL, SMALL VOICE
Sat. May 6, 2023
  • Check out of hotel and drive along the Mediterranean coast to Caesarea, Dive into the Book of Acts as you visit the capital of the Roman Empire’s Judean protectorate built by Herod the Great.
  • The One True God: Visit Mt. Carmel, where Elijah the Prophet served as a conduit to declare the power of the one true God.
  • Explore Old Testament Megiddo, the Biblical “battlefield of the nations,” overlooking the valley traditionally identified as Armageddon.
  • Drive to the city of Nazareth and stop at Mt. Precipice for a grand view of the Jezreel Valley (and its many Biblical stories) and of Jesus’ own hometown.
  • Continue to Tiberias and check into the hotel.
  • Dinner at the hotel.

DAY 5
FULFILLING HIS PROMISE
Sun. May 7, 2023
  • From the hills overlooking the Sea of Galilee, read from the Book of Matthew and hear the words that were taught by Jesus in His Sermon on the Mount.
  • Walk through the Tel Dan Nature Reserve, located on the largest tributary of the Jordan River, and explore the ruins of the great Biblical city of Dan.
  • The panoramic views from Mt. Bental (overlooking the Syrian town of Kuneitra) give sharp insights into Israel’s security situation on the Golan Heights, and the enormous challenges it faced in the 1973 Yom Kippur War, and the new threats from the north, Iran and Russia.
  • Cruise the Sea of Galilee on a boat inspired by the fishing vessels used here 2,000 years ago.
  • Return to the hotel and enjoy dinner.
  • Making sense of it all: Use this time to gather your thoughts and reflect on your experiences.

DAY 6
JOURNEY TOWARDS JERUSALEM
Mon. May 8, 2023
  • Check out of the hotel and with Bible in hand, visit the sites of:
    • Capernaum (Matt. 4:13).
    • Tabgha and the site of the Restoration of Peter (John 21).
  • Drive along the Sea of Galilee to a Baptismal Site on the Jordan River.
  • Proceed south via the Jordan Valley with a view of Jericho, the city conquered by Joshua as the Israelites were led into the Land of Israel.
  • Stop at Kasr el-Yahud, considered the actual site of Jesus’ baptism.
  • Continue across the untouched biblical landscape of the Judean Desert and ascend to Jerusalem through the wilderness where Jesus wandered and was tempted by the devil.
  • Upon arrival in Jerusalem stop for an overlook of the Old City from atop the Mount of Olives. Walk through the ancient Jewish cemetery, via the Dominus Flevit Church and down to the Garden of Gethsemane and the Kidron Valley.
  • Continue to the hotel and check in.
  • Dinner at the hotel.

DAY 7
GATEWAYS
Tue. May 9, 2023
  • Proceed to the Old City.
  • Visit Mt. Zion and the Upper Room where Jesus spent his last hours with his disciples before his arrest and crucifixion. Visit the traditional Tomb of King David and recount the messianic covenant of the Davidic line.
  • Take a walking tour through the Jewish Quarter for visits to archaeological treasures and other highlights, among them:
    • Hurva Square, the central square of the Jewish Quarter.
    • The Cardo, the main street of Jerusalem in the 6th century.
    • King Hezekiah’s First Temple-period “Broad Wall”.
  • Visit St. Anne’s Church and the Pools of Bethesda where Jesus told the lame man to take up his mat and walk. Continue along the Via Dolorosa ending at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre.
  • Take communion at the Garden Tomb, traditional site of Calvary.
  • Return to the hotel.
  • Dinner on own, perhaps on vibrant Emek Refaim Street, in Jerusalem’s German Colony.

DAY 8
HISTORY AND SPIRITUALITY IN JERUSALEM
Wed. May 10, 2023
  • Return to the Old City to visit the Temple Mount, site of the First and Second Temples, and today the location of the Dome of the Rock and the Al-Aqsa Mosque, the third holiest in Islam (contingent on security).
  • Visit the Western Wall and experience the special atmosphere of this holy site followed by a tour of the Western Wall Tunnel, the underground continuation of the Temple Mount’s Western Wall, exposed in recent years.
  • Explore the Jerusalem Archaeological Park, including the Davidson Center, Robinson’s Arch and the Southern Wall steps where Jewish pilgrims entered the Temple Mount 2,000 years ago.
  • Explore the excavations at the City of David, the very core of ancient Jerusalem.
  • Return to the hotel for dinner.

DAY 9
MEMORY, RENEWAL AND RETURN
Thu. May 11, 2023
  • Visit the Yad Vashem complex, the Jewish National Memorial to the six million Jewish victims of the Holocaust, including:
    • The Avenue of the Righteous
    • The Historical Museum
    • The Children’s Memorial
    • A concluding Memorial Service
  • Experience the sights, smells, and tastes of Jerusalem while walking through the Machaneh Yehuda open-air market.
  • Shared Values: View the Supreme Court and the Knesset (The Israeli Parliament) and discuss the democratic values of the State of Israel.
  • Explore the Israel Museum, housing more than 5,000 years of cultural treasures.
  • Free time to explore on own OR optionally, visit the city of Bethlehem and the Church of the Nativity, the traditional birthplace of Jesus.
  • Free time to explore downtown Jerusalem, including the Ben-Yehuda pedestrian mall and the Nachalat Shiva neighbourhood.

DAY 10
MASADA AND THE DEAD SEA
Fri. May 12, 2023
  • Descend to the Dead Sea Basin, driving by Qumran, the area where the Dead Sea Sect established a community, and the caves where the Dead Sea Scrolls were found.
  • Ascend by cable car to Masada, Herod’s mountain palace and site of the Jewish Zealots’ last stand against the Roman Legionnaire; discuss Masada’s role as a symbol of Jewish defence and its current significance in modern Israel.
  • Short hike to Nahal David, the freshwater spring at the Ein Gedi Nature Reserve, where David hid from King Saul, found him in a cave and cut his cloak.
  • Experience the weightlessness of the Dead Sea as you float in its waters.
  • Return to Jerusalem.
  • Experience a traditional family Shabbat and farewell dinner with members of Shabbat of a Lifetime.

  • Validity | All prices quoted are based on exchange rates as of the proposal date and are subject to change without notice. Rates are per person and are based on shared twin room occupancy.
  • How to Make a Reservation | The quickest way to make a reservation is to register online or contact us by email. We accept VISA, MasterCard, and American Express credit cards. A non-refundable deposit is required in order to complete the registration process.

  • Payments | The balance of your payment is due 90 days before your trip begins, or as specified in your invoice. You will receive an email reminder 2 weeks before this date. Various payment options are available as follows:
  • Credit card | We accept Visa, Mastercard and American Express. Please check with your credit card provider regarding international processing fees. We are unable to process payments of over $1,000 over the phone. Please submit payment online via a credit card or by wiring funds via your bank.
  • Domestic bank wire transfer | Payment should be wired in the same currency that is listed on your invoice. Please add the name of your group or invoice number as a reference and forward a copy of the transfer receipt by email. The bank transfer should clearly state the beneficiary’s name on the wire transfer.

  • Cancelation Policy | All cancelations need to be made in writing. The cancelation fee depends on the date when we receive written notification of your request to cancel your booking. Please note that the deposit is non-refundable.
  • Cancelation fees | Cancelations made 90 or more days prior to departure incur the loss of the deposit. Cancelations made 89 to 46 days prior to departure incur the loss of 50% of the full trip cost. Cancelations made 45 days or less prior to the departure incur the loss of 100% of the full trip cost.
  • Cancelation fees may also include: Hotel or supplier cancelation fees. J² Adventures reserves the right to adjust its terms of payment, including cancelation policies and initial deposits.
