  • Arrive at Ben-Gurion International Airport.
  • Check in at your hotel and freshen up before Shabbat.
  • Meet your J² Expert Educator who will accompany you on this journey of education and inspiration.
  • Shabbat Shalom!
    Option 1: Participate in Kabbalat Shabbat with hundreds of Jerusalemites at the Old Train Station.
    Option 2: Kabbalat Shabbat at the Kotel (Western Wall).

  • From Cana’an to Israel – Timeline of the Land: Discussion led by your Expert Educator.

  • Optional services at local synagogues.
  • Optional walking tour of the Old City of Jerusalem including Church of the Holy Sepulchre, where Jesus is believed to have been crucified. This is one of Christianity’s great pilgrimage sites and a testament to the remarkable diversity of the Christian world. It includes an empty tomb where it is said that Jesus was buried and resurrected.
  • Visit the newly rennovated Tower of David Museum of the history of Jerusalem. A visual journey through Jerusalem's story - and the competitions and collaborations between Jews, Christians, and Muslims in the city called holy by all three Abrahamic faiths.
  • Our Thoughts, Our Journey: Come together to share experiences and feelings from your first day in Jerusalem.
  • Mark the end of Shabbat with a Havdalah ceremony overlooking the Old City.
  • Experience Jerusalem night life, including: The Mamilla Mall, the First Station, the Ben Yehuda and Nahalat Shiva Pedestrian Malls.

  • Dialogue with Dr. Rachel Korazim, a renowned educator who uses song, poetry, and literature to shine a light on Israeli life and society.
  • Visit Yad Vashem, the national memorial to the six million Jewish victims of the Holocaust.
  • Mount Herzl is Israel's central military cemetery and hosts the graves of the leaders of the nation. Over the last several months, the recently fallen have joined this sacred place. Visit Mount Herzl and contend with the human price paid by Israeli families and the country in the Israel-Hamas War.
  • Dinner at a local restaurant and time to reflect on the day.

Mon. Jun 24, 2024
  • Session led by Neil Lazarus, an internationally acclaimed expert in the fields of Middle East politics, public diplomacy, and effective communication training.
  • Visit Pantry Packers, where you will pack food for Israel’s poorest families.
  • Continue through Jerusalem’s Old City and the Jewish Quarter and experience the center of Jewish life, history, and holiness. Among the highlights will be:
    • The Cardo, the main street of Roman-controlled Jerusalem and its spectacular Byzantine era columns.
    • King Hezekiah’s “Broad Wall,” a massive wall built to protect Jerusalem from invasion 2,700 years ago.
    • Hurva Square, the center of modern-day life in the Jewish Quarter.
  • Visit the Kotel (Western Wall), widely considered Judaism’s holiest site. We’ll discuss the wall’s historical and contemporary importance and experience its unique atmosphere.
  • Explore the Western Wall Tunnel, the underground continuation of the Kotel.

Tue. Jun 25, 2024
  • Tour the Yad B’Yad (Hand in Hand) school in Jerusalem, part of a network of bilingual, multicultural educational institutions which aim to show that Jewish and Arab communities can learn and live together.
  • Visit a project of the Jewish Agency for Israel (JAFI).
  • Experience the sights, smells, and tastes of Jerusalem while walking and "lunching" through the Mahane Yehuda open-air market.
  • Explore the National Library of Israel. The new Israel National Library provides the opportunity to understand centuries of Jewish creativity through one of the world’s most impressive collections of Jewish and Israel-related literature. In addition, the library staff is dedicated to a national project documenting the events of October 7, 2023.
  • Dialogue with Rachel Azaria, an activist, former deputy mayor of Jerusalem, and Member of the Knesset. Among her areas of focus and interest: What is the relationship between Israel and the rest of world Jewry? Is it on the rocks or as strong as ever? Does the idea of Israel as a Jewish state (and the recent law passed to that effect) clash with democratic values and the rights of Israel’s non-Jewish citizens?

Wed. Jun 26, 2024
  • Check out of the hotel.
  • Drive south to the Gaza Envelope.
  • Meet with Chen Kotler, a resident of kibbutz Kfar Aza, who will walk you through the kibbutz to share a day burnt into our memories and the impact of that day on the community.
  • Head to the site of the Nova Festival massacre near Kibbutz Re'im.
  • Drive to Tel Aviv.
  • Hostages Square has become a national center for the struggle for the hostages held by Hamas. Meet with families of the Hostages Forum. What has been achieved? What more can be done?
  • Check into the hotel.
  • Time for some group processing, and brainstorming ideas for the classrooms in Houston.

  • Visit ANU – Museum of the Jewish People, the largest Jewish museum in the world, and join a fascinating journey that portrays the story of the Jewish people through the generations and up to the present time. Discussion and brainstorming with ANU’s educational staff.
  • Visit a project of the Joint Distribution Committee (JDC).
  • In Petach Tikva, our sister city, we'll see some of the programs initiated and implemented through our partnership.

Fri. Jun 28, 2024
  • Walk through the streets of Florentine, Tel Aviv, to check out local murals and graffiti that are capturing people’s response to recent events. Finish the tour with the new works of local artists entitled "Walls of Hope." Each new mural represents one of the children who was held hostage.
  • Walk along Independence Trail in Tel Aviv and embark on a remarkable journey that begins with the founding of Tel Aviv in 1909 and ends with the establishment of Israel in 1948.
  • Explore Nahalat Binyamin, Tel Aviv’s arts and crafts market before we move on to the Carmel Market.
  • Continue to Rabin Square and Memorial, dedicated to Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin - his life, legacy, and the 1995 assassination.
  • Return to the hotel to freshen up before Shabbat.
  • Optional Kabbalat Shabbat at a local synagogue, followed by Shabbat dinner at your hotel.

  • Optional services at local synagogues.
  • Visit Ben Gurion's House. This unassuming house amidst the hustle and bustle of Tel Aviv was the residence of David Ben-Gurion, Israel's first Prime Minister, and his family.
  • Free time to explore the city or for packing.
  • Time to reflect where we have been and what we are taking home. Share the experiences and discoveries that have inspired you during this trip.
  • Late checkout followed by a farewell dinner at the hotel.
  • Mark the end of Shabbat with a communal Havdalah ceremony on the beach.
  • Transfer to the airport and check in for your flight.

What to expect

  • Validity | All prices quoted are based on exchange rates as of the proposal date and are subject to change without notice. Rates are per person and are based on shared twin room occupancy.
  • How to Make a Reservation | The quickest way to make a reservation is to register online or contact us by email. We accept VISA, MasterCard, and American Express credit cards. A non-refundable deposit of $500 is required in order to complete the registration process.
  • For any assistance with this registration process or other trip-related queries, please email Customer Care:
  • Payments | The balance of your payment is due 90 days before your trip begins, or as specified in your invoice. You will receive an email reminder 2 weeks before this date. Various payment options are available as follows:
  • Credit card | We accept Visa, Mastercard and American Express. Please check with your credit card provider regarding international processing fees. We are unable to process payments of over $1,000 over the phone. Please submit payment online via a credit card or by wiring funds via your bank.
  • Domestic bank wire transfer | Payment should be wired in the same currency that is listed on your invoice. Please add the name of your group or invoice number as a reference and forward a copy of the transfer receipt by email. The bank transfer should clearly state the beneficiary’s name on the wire transfer.
  • J² Adventures reserves the right to automatically cancel your reservation on that date and it may be subject to reconfirmation should the final payment not be received.
  • Cancelation Policy | All cancelations need to be made in writing. The cancelation fee depends on the date when we receive written notification of your request to cancel your booking. Please note that the deposit is non-refundable.
  • Cancelation fees | Cancelations made 90 or more days prior to departure incur the loss of the deposit. Cancelations made 89 to 46 days prior to departure incur the loss of 50% of the full trip cost. Cancelations made 45 days or less prior to the departure incur the loss of 100% of the full trip cost.
  • Cancelation fees may also include: Hotel or supplier cancelation fees. J² Adventures reserves the right to adjust its terms of payment, including cancelation policies and initial deposits.
