  • Arrive at Ben-Gurion International Airport.
  • Check into the hotel. Meet your J² Expert Educator who will accompany you on this journey of education and inspiration.
  • Optional afternoon guided tours (pre-registration required):
  • Option 1: Explore the Old City of Jaffa, including the flea-market - Shuk Hapishpishim.
  • Option 2: Walk down Bialik Street, home to many of Tel Aviv’s finest early artists and authors, followed by a visit to Trumpeldor Cemetery, where the great thinkers and founders of the first Zionist city are buried.
  • All: Meet in the lobby of the hotel to descend together to dinner.
  • Welcome dinner and dialogue with Haviv Rettig Gur, senior analyst at The Times of Israel. Since 2005, he has covered Israeli politics, foreign and regional policies, and the complex relationship with the Jewish Diaspora.

RESILIENCE AND INSIGHT: A DAY IN THE GAZA ENVELOPE

  • Israel’s Strategic Landscape: Engage with Col. (Ret.) Miri Eisin, a renowned expert in geopolitical strategy, Israeli security, and media affairs. With a distinguished career in Israeli intelligence and as a former advisor to the Prime Minister, Miri offers invaluable insights into Israel’s regional challenges, security policies, and strategic future.
  • Drive to the Gaza Envelope.
  • Visit a resilience center in the Gaza Envelope, supported by the Israel Trauma Coalition (ITC), offering critical mental health support to individuals and families impacted by the ongoing conflict. The mission will include a dialogue with staff and beneficiaries, highlighting the efforts to foster emotional healing and resilience in the region.
  • Embark on a culinary tour in Sderot – a delightful journey through the heart of the city. Led by a captivating local guide, this unique experience combines immersive tastings with insights into the personal and communal resilience of Sderot's residents.
  • Experience a firsthand look at the efforts being made to support local farmers in the South, focusing on the restoration of agriculture in the aftermath of the October 7th attacks. This visit will highlight how Regrow Israel has helped restore farms, enhance agricultural infrastructure, and create job opportunities for those in need, promoting food security and economic resilience in the region.
  • Continue your journey to the site of the Nova Music Festival, which has transformed into a poignant living memorial for those who lost their lives on October 7. As you walk through the grounds, you will witness the heartfelt tributes and commemorative displays that honor the victims. The memorial stands as a place for reflection, mourning, and remembrance, ensuring that the legacy of those affected endures.
  • Enjoy a meaningful BBQ dinner in the Gaza Envelope, sharing a meal and conversations with IDF soldiers. Hear firsthand about their experiences, resilience, and dedication while showing support and solidarity in a relaxed and personal setting.

EMPOWERING VETERANS

  • Depart the hotel for Kiryat Gat.
  • Visit a Youth Futures program (an initiative connected to the Jewish Agency - JAFI) site to meet with mentors, learn about the initiative’s impact on at-risk children, and explore opportunities for support and collaboration in strengthening Israel’s social periphery. Youth Futures is a Program of JAFI
  • Lunch on own, en route.
  • Visit Brothers for Life, where veterans with disabilities, including those from combat, come together. Learn firsthand about the organization's initiatives to support and empower Israeli veterans through sports, teamwork, and community-building activities.
  • Return to Tel Aviv.
  • Gather for a meaningful community dinner with the Jewish Federation of Greater Houston and its partners in Israel, celebrating the deep bonds of Kol Yisrael Arevim Ze Bazeh—our collective responsibility for one another.
  • Optional: Visit Hostages Square – a major site of public activism about the struggle for the Israeli hostages held by Hamas in Gaza and the trauma of the October 7th War. Today, the square honors the return home of the last living captives while calling for the sacred task of bringing home the bodies of those murdered for proper burial.

DAY 5
BUILDING BRIDGES

  • Check out and depart for the Hand in Hand School.
  • Tour the Yad B’Yad (Hand in Hand) school in Tel-Aviv, part of a network of bilingual, multicultural educational institutions which aim to show that Jewish and Arab communities can learn and live together.
  • Drive to Jerusalem and stop along the way for a moment of blessing and appreciation - shehechiyanu.
  • Meet with David Zackon of the JDC (Joint Distribution Committee) and hear from an inspirational guest speaker, Omer Refaeli.
  • Meet with President of the State of Israel - Isaac Herzog - at the President's Residence in Jerusalem.
  • Check into the hotel.
  • Enjoy a free evening in Jerusalem, offering the perfect opportunity to explore the city's vibrant nightlife, culinary scene, and cultural offerings at your own pace.
  • Optional: Explore the Western Wall Tunnel, the underground continuation of the Kotel, and examine important archaeological discoveries that are revising our understanding of daily life in ancient Jerusalem. (Pre-Registration Required)

A JOURNEY THROUGH JERUSALEM'S SPIRITUAL AND CREATIVE HEART

  • Morning tour options (pre-registration required):
  • OPTION 1: Visit Yad Vashem, Israel’s official Holocaust memorial, and experience its moving exhibits that honor the victims of the Holocaust. Walk through the museum’s galleries, hear powerful personal testimonies, and visit the Hall of Names to commemorate those who perished. Reflect at the Children’s Memorial and the Hall of Remembrance, paying tribute to the resilience and memory of the Jewish people.
  • OPTION 2: Mount Herzl is Israel's central military cemetery and hosts the graves of the leaders of the nation. Since October 7, 2023, the fallen have joined this sacred place. Visit Mount Herzl and contend with the human price paid by Israeli families and the country in the Israel-Hamas War. Join the daily morning kaddish dedicated to the memories of our fallen soldiers.
  • OPTION 3: Experience a curated art tour in Jerusalem, exploring the city's vibrant art scene. The tour takes you through galleries, artist studios, and iconic art spaces, offering insight into both contemporary and traditional art. It’s tailored for groups, highlighting Jerusalem’s rich cultural heritage and dynamic creative community.
  • ALL: Explore the bustling Machane Yehuda market in Jerusalem, where you'll find an array of fresh produce, spices, and artisanal crafts. Experience the vibrant atmosphere as you interact with local vendors and immerse yourself in the rich cultural tapestry of the city.
  • Return to the hotel with time to prepare for Shabbat.
  • Attend Kabbalat Shabbat services at the Western Wall.

SHABBAT IN JERUSALEM

  • Enjoy a Shabbat morning at leisure in Jerusalem, allowing you to explore the city at your own pace or relax and reflect. Alternatively, attend Shabbat morning services at a local synagogue, where you can participate in the traditional prayers and experience the spiritual atmosphere of Shabbat in one of Jerusalem's historic synagogues.

  • OPTION 1: Take part in a Shabbat walking tour of the Old City of Jerusalem, starting with the Tower of David, where you’ll explore the city's strategic and cultural significance through the ages. Continue to the Jewish Quarter, home to ancient synagogues and vibrant Jewish life, and stroll through the iconic Cardo, a historic Roman marketplace.
  • OPTION 2: Embark on a guided tour of the Old City of Jerusalem, focusing on the Christian Quarter, with expert Hana Bendcowsky from the Jerusalem Center for Jewish-Christian Relations. Hana will provide a comprehensive understanding of the Christian Quarter's historical and religious significance, exploring key sites such as the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. Through this tour, gain insights into the rich Christian heritage in Jerusalem, as well as the unique relationship between Jewish and Christian communities in the city, all framed within the context of interfaith dialogue and understanding.
  • OPTION 3: Explore the Israel Museum, housing more than 5,000 years of cultural treasures, on your own.
  • ALL: Experience the traditional Havdallah service, marking the end of Shabbat, in the heart of Jerusalem. This spiritual moment offers a chance to reflect on the Shabbat experience and transition into the new week, surrounded by the city's unique atmosphere.

  • Validity | All prices quoted are based on exchange rates as of the proposal date and are subject to change without notice. Rates are per person and are based on shared twin room occupancy.
  • How to Make a Reservation | The quickest way to make a reservation is to register online or contact us by email. We accept VISA, MasterCard, and American Express credit cards. A non-refundable deposit of $500 is required in order to complete the registration process.

  • Payments | The balance of your payment is due 90 days before your trip begins, or as specified in your invoice. You will receive an email reminder 2 weeks before this date. Various payment options are available as follows:
    • Credit card | We accept Visa, Mastercard and American Express. Please check with your credit card provider regarding international processing fees. We are unable to process payments of over $1,000 over the phone. Please submit payment online via a credit card or by wiring funds via your bank.
    • Domestic bank wire transfer | Payment should be wired in the same currency that is listed on your invoice. Please add the name of your group or invoice number as a reference and forward a copy of the transfer receipt by email. The bank transfer should clearly state the beneficiary’s name on the wire transfer.
  • J² Adventures reserves the right to automatically cancel your reservation on that date and it may be subject to reconfirmation should the final payment not be received.
  • Cancelation Policy | All cancelations need to be made in writing. The cancelation fee depends on the date when we receive written notification of your request to cancel your booking. Please note that the deposit is non-refundable.
  • Cancelation fees | Cancelations made 90 or more days prior to departure incur the loss of the deposit. Cancelations made 89 to 46 days prior to departure incur the loss of 50% of the full trip cost. Cancelations made 45 days or less prior to the departure incur the loss of 100% of the full trip cost.
