DAY 1
SETTING OUT ON YOUR JOURNEY

  • Travel safely. Looking forward to seeing you in Mexico!
  • Early afternoon arrival at Benito Juárez International Airport in Mexico City.
  • Recommended flight based on the above group transfer schedule: flight Delta DL 625 departing JFK at 8:30 a.m., landing in Mexico at 1:20 p.m. the same day.
  • Meet your local guide who will accompany you on this journey of Jewish peoplehood.
  • 4:00 p.m. Step into Mexico’s most iconic cultural landmark, where centuries of history come vividly to life. The National Museum of Anthropology houses an extraordinary collection of archaeological and anthropological treasures from Mexico’s pre-Columbian civilizations. Highlights include the legendary Stone of the Sun (the Aztec Calendar Stone) and the striking Aztec Xochipilli statue.
  • 6:00 p.m. Depart the museum.
  • 6:45 p.m. Welcome dinner at AlmaMia restaurant. Over dinner, you’ll meet and engage with Dr. Daniel Fainstein, Dean and a Professor of Jewish Studies and Education at the Hebrew University of Mexico, joined by members of the Jewish community—an opportunity to share stories, ask questions, and gain a deeper understanding of community life from those who live it every day.

DAY 2
TRADITIONS ON WATER, STORIES IN STONE

  • 9:00 a.m. Depart the hotel.
  • Enjoy a guided tour through Chapultepec Castle, where sweeping panoramic views of Mexico City meet grand murals, elegant halls, and lush garden terraces perched above the city.
  • 12:00 p.m. Enjoy lunch on your own in the La Roma neighborhood.
  • 2:00 p.m. Visit CDIJUM - the Mexican Jewish Documentation and Research Center - a vital institution dedicated to preserving and studying the history and cultural heritage of the Jewish community. Meet with a local researcher and expert to share key artifacts and documents that reveal the rich Jewish experience in Mexico.
  • 3:30 p.m. Return to the hotel with time to prepare for Shabbat.
  • 5:00 p.m. Depart the hotel.
  • 6:00 p.m. Kabbalat Shabbat and dinner at Parral Synagogue led by Rabbi Tuvia Krawchick - The synagogue is one of those remnants of that period, when Jewish institutions were embedded in residential streets rather than large communal complexes.- serving the Jewish community since 1940. Meet with a local community members and hear about the Mexican Jewish community - past, present, and future.

DAY 3
FOOD, ART, EXILE, AND COLONIAL LEGACIES

  • Accompanied by a chef, explore a vibrant local market, known for its cultural diversity and colorful array of local ingredients. Taste freshly made tortillas, sip rich Oaxacan cacao, and sample native fruits as you discover the flavors that define Mexican cuisine.
  • Continue to the Chef's kitchen for a hands-on cooking workshop, preparing a four-course menu that blends ancestral techniques with seasonal, local ingredients.
  • Enjoy the fruits of your labor during lunch.
  • Continue to the iconic Studio House of Diego Rivera and Frida Kahlo, a modernist landmark designed by Juan O’Gorman in 1931. These interconnected homes served as both residence and studio for two of Mexico’s most celebrated artists. Wander through spaces where art was born, and gain an intimate glimpse into their daily lives, creative process, and the revolutionary ideas that defined their era.
  • 6:00 p.m. Return to the hotel.

DAY 4
MEXICO CITY’S LIVING HERITAGE: XOCHIMILCO, UNAM & CENTRO DEPORTIVO ISRAELITA

  • Cruise the Canals of Xochimilco: Step aboard a colorful trajinera for a morning ride through Xochimilco’s ancient waterways. Enjoy live music and the vibrant energy that makes this experience so unique.
  • Traditional light lunch aboard your boat.
  • 2:00 p.m. Visit the Soumaya Museo, exploring one of the largest collections of sculptures by Auguste Rodin outside of France, works by European masters such as Dalí, Renoir, and Monet, as well as Diego Rivera & Frida Kahlo.
  • 4:00 p.m. Return to the hotel and enjoy evening on own.

DAY 5
TEOTIHUACAN & THE INDIGENOUS PEOPLES OF MEXICO
Mon. Mar 9, 2026
  • 8:00 a.m. Depart the hotel.
  • Visit the Aqueduct of Padre Tembleque, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most impressive hydraulic achievements of the 16th century. This remarkable structure tells a powerful story of collaboration between Indigenous Otomí communities and Spanish missionaries, who together brought water across miles of dry landscape through vision, ingenuity, and shared purpose.
  • Continue to the ancient Mesoamerican city of Teotihuacan - a UNESCO World Heritage site. Teotihuacan was one of the largest urban centers in the ancient world with a population over 100,000. Among the city’s most iconic monuments are the Pyramids of the Sun and the Moon and the grand Avenue of the Dead.
  • Enjoy a traditional homemade meal in Tlacaelel where regional flavors and heartfelt hospitality come together.
  • 4:00 p.m. Return to the hotel.
  • 6:00 p.m. Depart the hotel.
  • 7:00 p.m. Visit Deportivo Israelita (CDI), a sports and cultural center and a cornerstone of Jewish life in Mexico City. We learn about their mission to provide a safe and welcoming environment for the Jewish community to connect with their cultural roots, engage in physical activity, and build lasting relationships.
  • The evening will include a special dinner followed by a talk with Dr. Enrique Presburger, an interdisciplinary leader who bridges finance, academia, sport, and the arts, and an active member of the Mexican Jewish community.

DAY 6
THE LIFE AND DIVERSITY OF JEWISH LIFE IN MEXICO

  • 9:00 a.m. Discover the roots of Jewish Mexico on a thoughtfully guided walking tour led by a local community expert. Beginning in the Historic Center, you’ll trace the early footsteps of Jewish immigrants who arrived over a century ago in search of freedom and opportunity:
    • Historic Synagogue, Justo Sierra 71
    • Two historic little synagogues of the old Jewish quarter
    • Kosher shops and former communal housing
    • Santo Domingo Square
    • Local market with Diego Rivera student murals
    • Former Yiddish theater building
  • 12:00 p.m. Free time for lunch on own.
  • 2:00 p.m. Enjoy a leisurely stroll through the Zócalo, the monumental heart of Mexico City:
    • Metropolitan Cathedral, the largest and oldest cathedral in Latin America
    • National Palace, home to the offices of the Mexican President, the Federal Treasury, and the National Archives
    • Templo Mayor, built on the site where the Aztecs saw the eagle on a cactus with a snake, today’s symbol of Mexico
  • 4:00 p.m. Visit the Museum of Memory and Tolerance, a powerful space dedicated to fostering understanding and preserving the memory of the Holocaust and subsequent genocides, including those in Armenia, Rwanda, the former Yugoslavia, Cambodia, and Guatemala. Through the stories of victims and survivors, the museum invites deep reflection on history and underscores the enduring importance of human rights, dignity, and tolerance.
  • 6:00 p.m. Return to the hotel.
  • 7:15 p.m. Depart the hotel.
  • 7:45 p.m. Enjoy a farewell meal at Galea restaurant to share memories and thoughts before returning home.

  • Group departure transfer to the Benito Juárez International Airport in Mexico City.

  • Travel safely on your flight back to the U.S., and we look forward to seeing you on your next J² adventure.

    • Validity | All prices quoted are based on exchange rates as of the proposal date and are subject to change without notice. Rates are per person and are based on shared twin room occupancy.
    • How to Make a Reservation | The quickest way to make a reservation is to register online or contact us by email. We accept VISA, MasterCard, and American Express credit cards. A non-refundable deposit of $1,000 is required in order to complete the registration process.

  • Payments | The balance of your payment is due 90 days before your trip begins, or as specified in your invoice. You will receive an email reminder 2 weeks before this date. Various payment options are available as follows:
    • Credit card | We accept Visa, Mastercard and American Express. Please check with your credit card provider regarding international processing fees. We are unable to process payments of over $1,000 over the phone. Please submit payment online via a credit card or by wiring funds via your bank.
    • Domestic bank wire transfer | Payment should be wired in the same currency that is listed on your invoice. Please add the name of your group or invoice number as a reference and forward a copy of the transfer receipt by email. The bank transfer should clearly state the beneficiary’s name on the wire transfer.
  • J² Adventures reserves the right to automatically cancel your reservation on that date and it may be subject to reconfirmation should the final payment not be received.
  • Cancelation Policy | All cancelations need to be made in writing. The cancelation fee depends on the date when we receive written notification of your request to cancel your booking. Please note that the deposit is non-refundable.
    • Cancelation fees | Cancelations made 90 or more days prior to departure incur the loss of the deposit. Cancelations made 89 to 46 days prior to departure incur the loss of 50% of the full trip cost. Cancelations made 45 days or less prior to the departure incur the loss of 100% of the full trip cost.
    • Cancelation fees may also include: Hotel/Services or supplier cancelation fees. J² Adventures reserves the right to adjust its terms of payment, including cancelation policies and initial deposits.
