THE MAGIC OF MARRAKECH

  • Arrive at Marrakech International Airport.
  • Check in to your Marrakech hotel.
  • Gather in the hotel lobby to meet your J² Expert Educator and local Moroccan tour guide, who will accompany you throughout this unforgettable journey. Begin exploring the bustling streets of Marrakech - a city of vibrant colors, exotic souks, and legendary history.
  • This evening, enjoy a festive welcome dinner at a traditional Moroccan palace, complete with live music and an enchanting atmosphere.

DAY 3
IMPERIAL MARRAKECH AND SHABBAT HOSPITALITY
Fri. Feb 12, 2027
  • Begin with a guided exploration of the Medina of Marrakech, the vibrant heart of the city, filled with colorful markets, historic landmarks, and winding alleyways.
  • Visit the magnificent Dar El Bacha Palace, an architectural masterpiece showcasing the splendor of Morocco’s royal past.
  • Continue to the Madrasa Ben Youssef, one of Morocco’s most celebrated historic sites — a former theological school renowned for its intricate tilework and stunning design.
  • Spend time in the lively Djemaa El Fna Square, where snake charmers, musicians, storytellers, and market vendors create an atmosphere unlike anywhere else in the world.
  • Return to the hotel to prepare for a special Shabbat experience.
  • Celebrate Kabbalat Shabbat services together at the hotel before enjoying a warm and welcoming Shabbat dinner in a local home, sharing stories, laughter, and delicious Moroccan cuisine.

DAY 4
BERBER TRADITIONS IN THE ATLAS MOUNTAINS

  • Set out on a scenic drive through the lush Sidi Abdellah Ghiat and Oued Maleh valleys en route to the majestic Atlas Mountains.
  • Arrive at a traditional Berber village nestled among the mountains, where you will be welcomed by the village chief and local musicians, offering a warm introduction to Berber hospitality and culture.
  • Enjoy a home-cooked lunch prepared with fresh local ingredients while learning about Berber traditions and daily life.
  • Visit a local school to meet students and gain insight into the region’s educational life.
  • Participate in a hands-on bread-making workshop and experience traditional Berber baking techniques firsthand.
  • Return to Marrakech for Havdalah and a free evening at leisure to enjoy the sights, sounds, and atmosphere of this magical city.

DAY 5
JEWISH MARRAKECH AND MOROCCAN FLAVORS

  • Check out of the hotel and begin the day exploring the Mellah, Marrakech’s historic Jewish quarter, once home to a thriving Jewish community.
  • Visit the Jewish Cemetery, where many of Morocco’s most prominent Jewish figures are buried, and continue to the Slat El Azama Synagogue, an active synagogue rich with history and significance.
  • Later, participate in an interactive Moroccan cooking workshop, where you will learn to prepare a traditional tagine and other local specialties.
  • Enjoy lunch featuring the dishes you prepared during the workshop.
  • This afternoon, depart for Rabat, Morocco’s elegant capital city.
  • Upon arrival, check into the hotel and enjoy an evening at leisure.

DAY 6
RABAT TO FES: KINGS, MEMORY, AND TRANSITION
Mon. Feb 15, 2027
  • Begin the morning with a meaningful dialogue with Einat Levi, entrepreneur and researcher specializing in Morocco and Morocco–Israel relations.
  • Check out of the hotel and explore Rabat’s historic Medina before ascending to the Kasbah des Oudayas, a picturesque fortress overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.
  • Visit the Mausoleum of Mohammed V, honoring the revered king who protected Morocco’s Jews during World War II by refusing to allow their deportation to Nazi concentration camps.
  • Continue to the Mausoleum of Hassan II, the former king remembered for modernizing Morocco.
  • This afternoon, travel onward to Fes, one of Morocco’s most historically and culturally significant cities and once a major center of Jewish scholarship and learning.
  • Check into the hotel and enjoy dinner together.

DAY 7
FES: A TAPESTRY OF JEWISH AND MOROCCAN HERITAGE
Tue. Feb 16, 2027
  • Begin the day with panoramic views over Fes and its ancient Medina from the historic Borj Sud fortress.
  • Explore the rich Jewish heritage of Fes, including:
    • The Ibn Danan Synagogue, one of the oldest and most significant synagogues in North Africa, beautifully restored to its former glory.
    • The El Fassiyin Synagogue, once repurposed as a boxing ring and carpet factory before being restored to Jewish communal use.
    • The Jewish Cemetery, where we will hear stories of the city’s revered rabbis and scholars.
  • Continue into the maze-like Medina of Fes, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the world’s largest car-free urban area.
  • After lunch at a local restaurant, continue exploring:
    • The University of Al-Karaouine, considered the world’s oldest continuously operating university, where Jewish and Muslim scholars once studied side by side.
    • The Chouara Tannery, where centuries-old leather-dyeing traditions are still practiced today.
    • The Madrasa Bou Inania, celebrated for its breathtaking mosaics and woodwork.
    • A local artisan workshop, where traditional craftsmanship has been preserved for generations.
  • Return to the hotel this evening.

MEKNES AND THE ROAD TO CASABLANCA

  • Check out of the hotel and travel to Meknes, one of Morocco’s imperial cities, known for its rich history and striking blend of Islamic and European architectural influences.
  • Explore the legacy of Sultan Moulay Ismail, whose grand vision shaped the city. Alongside his architectural achievements, we will also examine the darker aspects of his rule and the legends surrounding his reign.
  • Enjoy lunch at a picturesque winery set amid Morocco’s scenic countryside.
  • Continue onward to Casablanca, Morocco’s largest city and economic center, rich in history and cultural diversity.
  • Upon arrival, check into the hotel.

CASABLANCA AND THE JEWISH LEGACY OF MOROCCO

  • Begin the day with a visit to the magnificent Hassan II Mosque, dramatically situated over the Atlantic Ocean. With its intricate craftsmanship and soaring minaret, it is one of the largest and most breathtaking mosques in the world.
  • Continue exploring key sites throughout Casablanca, including:
    • A local church reflecting Morocco’s spirit of religious coexistence.
    • The city’s central square, where past and present intersect.
    • The site of the historic Casablanca Conference, where Allied leaders met during World War II.
    • The legendary Rick’s Café, inspired by the classic film Casablanca.
  • Stroll along the scenic Corniche, Casablanca’s seaside promenade, with free time for lunch at one of the many oceanfront cafés.
  • Visit the historic Beth-El Synagogue, Casablanca’s vibrant Jewish center, and reflect on the resilience and continuity of Jewish life in Morocco.
  • Continue to the Museum of Moroccan Judaism, the only Jewish museum in the Arab world, where exhibits and artifacts illuminate the deep roots of Jewish life in Morocco.
  • This evening, enjoy a festive farewell dinner hosted by a member of the local Jewish community, followed by a closing conversation reflecting on the journey and experiences shared throughout the week.

  • Enjoy a final breakfast in Morocco before checking out of the hotel.

    • Validity | All prices quoted are based on exchange rates as of the proposal date and are subject to change without notice. Rates are per person and are based on shared twin room occupancy.
    • How to Make a Reservation | The quickest way to make a reservation is to register online or contact us by email. We accept VISA, MasterCard, and American Express credit cards. A non-refundable deposit of $675 is required in order to complete the registration process.

  • Payments | The balance of your payment is due 90 days before your trip begins, or as specified in your invoice. You will receive an email reminder 2 weeks before this date. Various payment options are available as follows:
    • Credit card | We accept Visa, Mastercard and American Express. Please check with your credit card provider regarding international processing fees. We are unable to process payments of over $1,000 over the phone. Please submit payment online via a credit card or by wiring funds via your bank.
    • Domestic bank wire transfer | Payment should be wired in the same currency that is listed on your invoice. Please add the name of your group or invoice number as a reference and forward a copy of the transfer receipt by email. The bank transfer should clearly state the beneficiary’s name on the wire transfer.
  • J² Adventures reserves the right to automatically cancel your reservation on that date and it may be subject to reconfirmation should the final payment not be received.
  • Cancelation Policy | All cancelations need to be made in writing. The cancelation fee depends on the date when we receive written notification of your request to cancel your booking. Please note that the deposit is non-refundable.
    • Cancelation fees | Cancelations made 90 or more days prior to departure incur the loss of the deposit. Cancelations made 89 to 46 days prior to departure incur the loss of 50% of the full trip cost. Cancelations made 45 days or less prior to the departure incur the loss of 100% of the full trip cost.
    • Cancelation fees may also include: Hotel or supplier cancelation fees. J² Adventures reserves the right to adjust its terms of payment, including cancelation policies and initial deposits.
