  • Dialogue with Judges of the Jewish Court in Casablanca. Discover the intricate interplay between halacha (Jewish law), Charya (Islamic law), and civil law, as these judges navigate a complex legal framework unique to Morocco.   • Visit the historic Beth-El Synagogue, Casablanca’s active Jewish center, where we’ll reflect on the resilience of Jewish life in Morocco.
  • Visit one of Morocco’s architectural marvels - The Hassan II Mosque, an awe-inspiring structure built over the Atlantic Ocean. With its intricate tilework and towering minaret, it’s one of the largest and most breathtaking mosques in the world.
  • Step into history at the Museum of the Jews of Morocco, the only Jewish museum in the Arab world. During the visit, you’ll have the opportunity to meet with the museum's curator, Zhor Rehihil, who will share insights into the exhibits and the significance of preserving this important heritage.
  • Enjoy a welcome celebration with cocktails and dinner overlooking the Atlantic Ocean at Umaya on the Corniche. A WALK THROUGH TIME IN FES

  • Step back in time as we explore the city’s rich Jewish heritage:
    • The Ibn Danan Synagogue, one of the oldest and most significant synagogues in North Africa, recently restored to its former glory.
    • The El Fassiyin Synagogue, which was once repurposed as a boxing ring and a carpet factory but has now been returned to its original purpose.
    • The Fes Jewish Cemetery, where we will hear the remarkable stories of the city’s revered rabbis and scholars.
  • Wander through the maze-like Medina of Fes, a UNESCO World Heritage site and the world’s largest pedestrian-only urban area.
  • Stop by a local artisan’s workshop and witness traditional craftsmanship that has been passed down for generations.
  • Visit the Madrasa Bou Inania, a stunning Islamic college with breathtaking mosaics and woodwork.
  • Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before continuing our explorations:
    • The University of Al-Karaouine, the world’s oldest operating university, where Jewish and Muslim scholars once studied side by side.

RABAT: CITY OF LEGENDS AND HIDDEN STORIES

  • Visit the mausoleum of Mohammad V, the revered king who protected Morocco’s Jews during World War II, refusing to allow them to be deported to Nazi concentration camps.
  • Pay respects at the mausoleum of Hassan II, the former king known for modernizing Morocco.
  • Stroll through Rabat’s Medina, where we’ll explore bustling markets, elegant jewelry shops, and grand diplomatic buildings.
  • Climb up to the Kasbah des Udayas, a fortress offering stunning views of the Atlantic Ocean.
  • Check into the hotel and enjoy a meaningful dialogue with young leaders from Association Mimouna, a Muslim organization dedicated to preserving Jewish heritage in Morocco and and promoting Jewish-Muslim friendship.

  • Meet with Jacky Kadosh, the President of the Jewish Community of Marrakech, to learn about the history and current activities of the community in this vibrant city.
  • Discover the Majorelle Garden, an oasis of exotic plants and vibrant cobalt-blue buildings once owned by fashion designer Yves Saint Laurent.
  • Explore the Berber Museum, which showcases the rich cultural heritage of Morocco’s indigenous Berber people.
  • Check into the hotel with time to freshen up and prepare for Shabbat.
  • Kabbalat Shabbat services at the hotel led by Rabbi Jason Nevarez.

SHABBAT IN THE RED CITY OF MARRAKECH

THE JEWISH QUARTER AND A MOROCCAN COOKING EXPERIENCE

  • Dialogue on the role of the Imam in Moroccan society, facilitated by a professor of English and a local Imam. This session will provide insight into the unique role of the Imam in Moroccan culture and the differences in Islamic practices in Morocco compared to other regions.
  • Wander through the Mellah, the historic Jewish quarter of Marrakech, filled with old synagogues and Jewish heritage sites.
  • Visit the Slat el Azama Synagogue, a still-active place of worship that holds deep historical significance for the local Jewish community.
  • Explore the Jewish Cemetery, where many of Morocco’s most prominent Jewish figures are laid to rest.
  • Participate in an interactive Moroccan cooking class, where you will learn to prepare a traditional tagine.
  • Enjoy the fruits of your labor during lunch, savoring the flavors of your freshly cooked Moroccan meal.
  • Drive to the Agafay Desert, located south of Marrakech. This rocky desert offers a striking resemblance to the Sahara, with its vast dunes and breathtaking landscape. During your visit, you will experience:
    • A scenic camel ride through the stunning Atlas Mountains.
    • A private, festive dinner in a traditional Berber tent.
    • A leisurely walk through the desert to fully absorb the serene beauty of the surroundings.

JOURNEY INTO THE ATLAS MOUNTAINS AND BERBER HOSPITALITY

  • Stop at the grave of Rabbi Shlomo BelHench, a revered Jewish saint known as the “Son of the Snake,” and hear the legends surrounding his life and legacy.
  • Continue to a traditional Berber village nestled in the mountains, where you will be welcomed by the village chief and local musicians, offering you a warm taste of Berber hospitality.
  • Enjoy a home-cooked lunch in the village, with fresh, locally sourced ingredients, while learning about Berber culture and traditions from the chief.
  • Visit a local school to interact with students and see the educational practices of the region.
  • Return to Marrakech for a special festive dinner at a Moroccan palace, complete with live music to enhance the ambiance.

  • Validity | All prices quoted are based on exchange rates as of the proposal date and are subject to change without notice. Rates are per person and are based on shared twin room occupancy.
  • How to Make a Reservation | The quickest way to make a reservation is to register online or contact us by email. We accept VISA, MasterCard, and American Express credit cards. A $1,000 per person non-refundable deposit is required in order to complete the registration process.

  • Payments | The balance of your payment is due 120 days before your trip begins, or as specified in your invoice. You will receive an email reminder 2 weeks before this date. Various payment options are available as follows:
  • Credit card | We accept Visa, Mastercard and American Express. Please check with your credit card provider regarding international processing fees. We are unable to process payments of over $1,000 over the phone. Please submit payment online via a credit card or by wiring funds via your bank.
  • Domestic bank wire transfer | Payment should be wired in the same currency that is listed on your invoice. Please add the name of your group or invoice number as a reference and forward a copy of the transfer receipt by email. The bank transfer should clearly state the beneficiary’s name on the wire transfer.
  • J² Adventures reserves the right to automatically cancel your reservation on that date and it may be subject to reconfirmation should the final payment not be received.
  • Cancelation Policy | All cancelations need to be made in writing. The cancelation fee depends on the date when we receive written notification of your request to cancel your booking. Please note that the deposit is non-refundable.
  • Cancelation fees | Cancelations made 120 or more days prior to departure incur the loss of the deposit. Cancelations made 119 to 46 days prior to departure incur the loss of 50% of the full trip cost. Cancelations made 45 days or less prior to the departure incur the loss of 100% of the full trip cost.
