DAY 1
WELCOME TO ISRAEL

  • Arrive at Ben-Gurion International Airport.

  • 5:00 p.m. Meet your J² Expert Educator and trip leaders in lobby of the hotel.
  • Welcome dinner at a local restaurant.

DAY 2
IN SEARCH OF HOPE
Mon. Jan 27, 2025
  • 8:45 a.m. Meet Dr. Oded Leshem whose research on the cultural-social concept of "hope" is as relevant today than ever. Oded will explore interpretations and examples of hope as a philosophical and social phenomenon with special emphasis on Israel and the Jewish world today. Where can we look for hope in tough times?
  • Visit the Hand in Hand school and learn about their unique approach to education in Israel.
  • In Two Minds: Doubt in a Time of Absolutes, a candid conversation with Prof. Rabbi Michael Marmur.
  • Engage in candid conversation with MARAM Rabbis. Hear the thoughts and challenges of colleagues on this panel.
  • Enjoy a free evening in Jerusalem starting at 6:30 p.m.

DAY 3
UNDERSTANDING THE PAST: INVESTING IN THE FUTURE
Tue. Jan 28, 2025
  • 9:00 a.m. Hear from Hamutal Gouri, longtime feminist peace activist and storyteller for social change, how art can serve as a catalyst for social change.
  • Food, Comfort, and Memory: Bake challah or babka with rabbinical student and chef Nissimi, a reservist who notifies families about lost loved ones. He shares his story, and the story of Israel, and how sharing food and love can help us heal.
  • Building the State – The National Institutions and the Rehavia Neighborhood: Beginning with the historic Jewish Agency building and continuing along the streets of Rehavia, our tour will focus on people and places that contributed to the building of the State from defense and diplomacy to culture and education.
  • Liberal Jews in Zionist Institutions: An update by Adv. Yaron Shavit on his role as Deputy Chairman of The Jewish Agency Executive, presented at the historic building.
  • Wind down from the day with an evening on your own in Jerusalem starting at 6:00 p.m.

DAY 4
RESILIENCE AND RELIEF
Wed. Jan 29, 2025
  • 7:30 a.m. Drive south with a stop at an overlook into Gaza.
  • Activism and Trauma: Visit Nirim with Rabbi Avi Dabush, Executive Director of Rabbis for Human Rights.
  • Special tefilla and commemoration ceremony at the Nova site.
  • Enjoy lunch with members of the Sha'ar Henegev Reform Jewish Community. Hear from their clergy and local residents as they share the challenges they have faced as a community since October 7, 2023 and their hope to rebuild.
  • Visit a temporary art exist in Brur Chayil. The exhibit highlights the interpretation of the quintessential kibbutz lifestyle through artwork done by local Israeli artists. This window into the beauty of life on a kibbutz, paints a picture of what people in the south are hoping to rebuild.
  • Take a moment for reflection and debriefing the day before returning to Jerusalem.
  • The day will conclude around 7:00 p.m.

DAY 5
ALL ROADS LEAD TO TEL AVIV
Thu. Jan 30, 2025
  • 7:45 a.m. Check out of the hotel.
  • Explore Jewish and Israeli judicial traditions at the Supreme Court building with Orly Erez Likhovski, Executive Director of the Israel Religious Action Center.
  • Seeking Redemption: On Religious Anti-Occupation Politics. Meet with activist and author, Michael Mankin.
  • Encounter activists and volunteers working for a better Israel today and tomorrow in a variety of Tel Aviv social innovation arenas. Panelists include: leaders of the LGBTQ community center in Tel Aviv, a spokeswoman from Adam v'teva vdin - an organization advocating for Israel's environment, and a leader in the education field fighting for gender equity in education.
  • 6:30 p.m. Check into your hotel and enjoy an evening on your own in Tel Aviv.

DAY 6
CREATING A COMMUNITY
Fri. Jan 31, 2025
  • 8:30 a.m. "Your People Are My People." Meet with conversion class participants learning with the Israel Reform movement as they make the powerful move to join the Jewish people.
  • IMPJ today: Meeting with Anna Kislanski, educator, activist, and CEO of the Israel Reform Movement.
  • Visit the Hatikva neighborhood, once one of the poorer parts of Tel Aviv with a rich history of immigration and rich cultural traditions, and enjoy a tasting tour at Hatikva’s open-air market.
  • Shabbat Shalom! Experience Kabbalat Shabbat at a few different Reform congregations.
  • Enjoy a home hospitality Shabbat dinner.
  • Return to the hotel.

DAY 7
SHABBAT IN TEL AVIV
Sat. Feb 1, 2025
  • Shabbat morning services (TBD).
  • 1:00 p.m. Gentrification in Tel Aviv: Walk along the Mesila of Tel Aviv, a new park between the Neve Tzedek and the Florentin/Levinsky neighborhoods. This park is on the site of the old Ottoman railway from Jaffa to Jerusalem.
  • 3:00 p.m. Enjoy a final conversation and moment for reflection.
  • 4:45 p.m. Late checkout followed by a festive farewell dinner.
  • Cherish Shabbat and mark its passing (until next week) with a havdalah ceremony with Reform community members and leaders at Hostage Square.
  • Transfer to Ben-Gurion International Airport for your return flight to the US.

  • Validity | All prices quoted are based on exchange rates as of the proposal date and are subject to change without notice. Rates are per person and are based on shared twin room occupancy.
  • How to Make a Reservation | The quickest way to make a reservation is to register online or contact us by email. We accept VISA, MasterCard, and American Express credit cards. A non-refundable deposit of $500 is required in order to complete the registration process.

  • Payments | The balance of your payment is due 90 days before your trip begins, or as specified in your invoice. You will receive an email reminder 2 weeks before this date. Various payment options are available as follows:
    • Credit card | We accept Visa, Mastercard and American Express. Please check with your credit card provider regarding international processing fees. We are unable to process payments of over $1,000 over the phone. Please submit payment online via a credit card or by wiring funds via your bank.
    • Domestic bank wire transfer | Payment should be wired in the same currency that is listed on your invoice. Please add the name of your group or invoice number as a reference and forward a copy of the transfer receipt by email. The bank transfer should clearly state the beneficiary’s name on the wire transfer.
  • J² Adventures reserves the right to automatically cancel your reservation on that date and it may be subject to reconfirmation should the final payment not be received.
  • Cancelation Policy | All cancelations need to be made in writing. The cancelation fee depends on the date when we receive written notification of your request to cancel your booking. Please note that the deposit is non-refundable.
  • Cancelation fees | Cancelations made 90 or more days prior to departure incur the loss of the deposit. Cancelations made 89 to 46 days prior to departure incur the loss of 50% of the full trip cost. Cancelations made 45 days or less prior to the departure incur the loss of 100% of the full trip cost.
  • Cancelation fees may also include: Hotel or supplier cancelation fees. J² Adventures reserves the right to adjust its terms of payment, including cancelation policies and initial deposits.
