Program Itinerary

DAY 1
THE GLORY OF PRAGUE: JEWISH MEMORY & MEDIEVAL SPLENDOR
Wed. May 26, 2027
  • Bid farewell to your fellow travelers and check out of the hotel.
  • 7:00 a.m. Depart early this morning by private bus and journey north through the scenic landscapes of Central Europe en route to Prague, one of Europe’s most enchanting and historically rich capitals.
  • Arrive in Prague and set out on a guided walk through the heart of the Old Town. Explore Old Town Square, Prague’s bustling marketplace since the 10th century, surrounded by colorful Baroque façades, Gothic towers, and elegant Art Nouveau architecture that reflects the city’s layered artistic heritage.
  • Marvel at Prague’s famed Astronomical Clock, the beloved medieval timepiece whose hourly procession has captivated visitors for centuries and become an enduring symbol of the city.
  • Enjoy free time for a late lunch and an opportunity to soak in the atmosphere of Prague’s cafés, cobblestone streets, and lively squares.
  • Trace the remarkable and often tragic story of Prague’s Jewish community during a walking tour of the historic Jewish Quarter (Josefov), once home to one of Europe’s most influential Jewish centers. Your visit will include:
    • The Pinkas Synagogue - now a moving memorial to the nearly 80,000 Czech and Moravian Jews murdered during the Holocaust, with victims’ names inscribed across its walls.
    • The Old Jewish Cemetery - one of the oldest surviving Jewish cemeteries in Europe, where layered gravestones and crowded burial grounds silently testify to centuries of Jewish life in Prague.
    • The Spanish Synagogue - admired for its breathtaking Moorish Revival interior and exhibitions chronicling the modern history of Czech Jewry.
    • The Altneuschul (Old-New Synagogue) - Europe’s oldest active synagogue, steeped in legend, spirituality, and centuries of uninterrupted Jewish continuity.
  • Check into the hotel and settle into your surroundings.
  • Enjoy an evening at leisure to experience Prague’s magical atmosphere by night, perhaps wandering its illuminated streets or relaxing at one of its historic cafés.

DAY 2
A CITY OF SPIRES, STORIES, & ENDURING BEAUTY
Thu. May 27, 2027
  • Begin the day with a scenic tram ride through Prague, crossing from the historic Old Town into the charming district of Malá Strana (Lesser Town) before ascending toward Prague Castle. Along the way, take in sweeping city views, red-tiled rooftops, and the countless church spires that have earned Prague its nickname, “The City of a Hundred Spires.”
  • Explore Prague Castle, the vast hilltop complex of palaces, cathedrals, courtyards, and gardens that has served as the seat of kings, emperors, and presidents for more than a thousand years. Overlooking the Vltava River, the castle offers a remarkable window into Czech political, cultural, and religious history.
  • Pause for free time and a late lunch at leisure - perhaps enjoying traditional Czech cuisine or a locally brewed Czech beer in one of Prague’s atmospheric taverns or cafés.
  • Wander through the picturesque streets of Lesser Town, known for its Baroque architecture, hidden courtyards, and charming squares. Visit the colorful John Lennon Wall, transformed over decades into a living symbol of peace, freedom, and artistic expression.
  • Cross the iconic Charles Bridge, lined with statues of saints and offering unforgettable views of the river and skyline. Along the way, stop at the bridge’s crucifix bearing a Hebrew inscription - a striking and complicated reminder of Prague’s intertwined Jewish and Christian histories.
  • Return to the hotel after a full day immersed in Prague’s beauty, history, and enduring cultural spirit.
Overnight: Prague Meals: Breakfast
DAY 3
FAREWELL TO CENTRAL EUROPE
Fri. May 28, 2027
  • Check out of the hotel.
  • Return flight to the United States.
  • For those wishing to remain in Prague over Shabbat, we recommend an optional day trip to Terezín (additional cost), the former Nazi ghetto and concentration camp whose history offers an important and deeply moving continuation of the themes explored throughout this journey.
